Worse, continuing the trend of getting worse every time you change servers or providers.

As of right now, ping on clipboard for MA now bounces around between 175-185, pwhile other arenas are 240-250. Before yesterday, it was about 80-100 for MA and 150-170 for others.

What I have noticed is that on first IP (206.123.111.42) I always get same ping times (50ms), on the second IP(206.16.60.38) pings vary between 45ms and 55ms

All in all pings are better for about 20ms in average.

Bullet Head, You have it backwords I belive, the MA is the new server i.e. the one with better ping times and less hops for you.

Bullethead, everything after your second hop is moot. That is where your trouble starts. Have you forwarded this to anyone at Level3 yet? I would. I'll also be pointing the potential new ISP/collocation to this thread and see what they think as well.

So, less hops, less latency, but 50% increase in the number of hops that have almost total packet loss.

In-game it seems better, but only a little. <-- EDIT: I meant my connection was pretty good as it was.

My connect with TW cable from Hawaii takes 3 less hops and 20 ms faster on the new server but consitently has 1-2% packet loss @ hop 14. Zero packet loss on the old server. I will post my results from Guam DSL when I get there Sunday.

Well, I've only flown a bit last night on the new system so my opinion ain't informed yet. However, the fact remains that every time you change something, my ping appears to go up a little on the clipboard arena list. It's been doing that every time since AH started, so is now showing a ping about 50% higher than it was on the 1st day of AH1.

Granted, I live WAY out in the sticks, have a very crappy dial-up connection (no broadband available here) that could still not be quite back to normal after Katrina, and I'm usually drunk whenever I deal with AH. But this incremental ping increase with each server/provider change has been a seemingly constant factor.

Earthlink is leasing Level3 dialup service and using them for your connection. So send the traces to Earthlink, as that is where the problem starts. It cannot get any better until you get them to figure out why the first hop is loosing packets and/or timing out.
