So I ping www.hitechcreations.com

just for kicks, as I noticed lots of lag on the BBS of late.

my ping goes from Oklahoma City (where i'm at durn it) to dallas, to L.A. Calif. back to Dallas, with major packet loss in L.A. and route changes every second or so.

what's up with that?  my 4th hop puts me in Dallas.  Why would they route me FROM dallas, to the west coast, BACK to Dallas?  I swear somebody hates me.

Thats one of them questions thats not easily answered.

One of the I2 circuits we use is just  called Amarillo. Its in California as well. We scratch our heads on that one from time to time.

Seems to me though that with all these routers and stuff all tied together, the signals would know the shortest paths to take. Hence the term router.

Well, I know HTC is in grapevine which is in Fort Worth. I'm thinking the servers' connection comes from a place in Dallas. But im not too sure.
