stern lover, somehow that figures,  genetically driven also.  this is good stuff right here.  I have XM a friend has sirius there is no way I'd pay to put up with the sirius DJs and their never ending trivial commentary about almost every tune they play.  I usually listen to 40, 46, 50 & 54 I get my comedy fix reading all the stuff here.

I actually don't believe that is true about the satellites having less bandwidth, but I can't find out much information on how powerful (that's the key point - not bandwidth) the Sirius satellites are. The XM satellites transmit at 10 megawatts.

XM's satellites are in geostationary orbit at the east and west coast above the US while Sirius' satellites are in geosynchronous orbits allowing each individual satellite to be over the US for 16 hours. They are also placed higher in their orbit to allow better coverage which is why there are less ground repeaters.

You can listen to Sirius on the web, which makes having a unit in your office pretty moot.

Of course, it's up to someone to purchase what they want. I don't listen to comedy or howard stern, but I listen to the rock stations on Sirius and I can't complain because it has loads of music and consantly updates with new music. When I did listen to XM which a friend had, it was a constant barrage of repeats.

ha, stern is good, im not obsessed with him as some are... and i dont know i want to pay for a new service just to be able to hear him talk.

As for XM or Sirius, it looks like 6 of 1, have a dozen of the other here.

Have XM and I think it's just dandy.  Use XM also to downlink Wx to the Cirrus.

Never used Sirius.

I have xm and like it... I hate commercials and that includes DJ's talking.  sirus seems to feel that we need dj's to talk to us and be our friends.

stern is a crybaby fart joke.  a month of stern in your life is like 6 seasons of sienfeld..... something that is worth doing but....enough for anyone.

I like "progressive country" or rockabilly and classic rock so xm works for me.

I wasnt very pleased with stern after the crap he pulled durring the last election.

Thinking about it, I might just stick with what I got and give try XM. Its all there, I just have to figure out how to get that ID number.

morph, i am kind of suprised the car didn't come with a trial of service for it... unless you bought it off some crack head car thief :p :lol

anyway, my dad in atl ga has XM it is neat to listen too for the 40's channel and stuff like that. personally i can not fathom paying for radio. yeah it was neat and all that, but not supremely impressive. (i am biased though ebcause we have probably the best morning radio possible on a local station... and i uas an mp3 player when i am not driving to work).

Prime example... I went to Boston and I never even lost reception because XM puts the money on ground loopers, heck, I never even lost reception in any of the tunnels in Boston.

Besides, I can listen to XM on the web too, I just prefer to have my portable receiver because I can not only listen to live stuff, but I have 5 hours of room to record stuff on my XM radio a well. Combine that with my portable having an internal FM transmitter and a remote control and it blows alot of the competition away.

mustain... I just flat out can't stand commercials.  That is reason enough to pay to avoid them.   I don't watch any TV that I haven't recorded and not even much then  Maybe 3 shows.... I watch DVD's on my TV.  

The other thing is that I like... the pay for ones tell you (it is displayed) what you are listening to.   Ever hear an old song that you can't recall who did it or what the title is?  or something really off the wall that you would like to know the name and artist of?   That is worth a lot to me too.

XM weather on my Garmin 396 makes it a given as to where I get my music.
It also comes loaded on GM vehicles.

I'm pretty sure that both XM and Sirus can be streamed via the internet for listening at home/office.

most of the guys here at work use one or the other.

the reason I pay for radio is because I refuse to listen to commercials.  it's worth $7 a month for that alone.  I'd pay $14 a month if I never had to listen to my mother in law.

its a 05 wrangler. always wanted one. i have had fast cars from the start and am tired of the headaches.. cops, cost to keep running, gas.. that come with having loud, fast noticable cars.

now i'll just putt around in a jeep and and stay out of trouble. maybe run something over here or there.
