First, party loyalty comes from consistent issues that one agrees with, but does not necessarily mean loyalty, I tend to go republican, but I've disagreed with local issues and voted Democrat before.

Secondly, what happened this last election was not typical of an election in the US, if you think it was, then your either very young, or have not done 'your home work' in US politics.  I would stay concerned about your countrie's politics rather than be concerned of ours, for its your involvement, vote, that will affect your life.  By you commenting on how someone elses house has roaches could indeed be a call sign that your own house may need an exterminator.  :)

What.. this is a 'REFUND'??

WHAT 'REFUND'???

Some of you guys crack me up.. and some of you got me worried.

If you had yer house busted into, and by some strange quirk; the money was recovered, and the police called you to come get it (after it's suitible use as 'evidence' had run it's course) would they say "come get yer refund.."  ??

Well???

Listen up yah buncha programed republicanized PC donutwoods, that ain't no "REFUND"!

Lets get this straight.. you LOAN the governement money every pay period... at the end of the year; they tally up what you loaned 'em, give you a bill schedule for living here that even THEY can't make sense of and extort from you the majority of your good faith loan. By Law.

What you get back was always yours.. they didn't pay intrest on it... the thievin bums are STILL robbin yah; and you walk around sayin dum-assed stuff like "I got a REFUND, Oh; THANK you Mr. Bush... "

It should be "Mr. Bush; we deserve to be raped.. just gettin diddlyed ain't good enuff fer us."

Get a clue!

Let's not forget the reduction that began in July on your paycheck in fed taxes you pay (if you make 28-35k a year, its about 380 bucks) and lets not forget the deductible for those with kids went from 500 to 1000, and a marriage tax penalty is gone:

Quote

The current tax code frequently taxes couples more after they get married.
This marriage tax contradicts our values and any reasonable sense of
fairness. President Bush’s tax relief plan will greatly reduce the marriage
penalty by restoring the deduction for two-earner families. This will allow
the lower-earning spouse to deduct 10 percent - up to $3,000 - of the first
$30,000 of income. The marriage penalty will be further mitigated by
lowering marginal tax rates, which will reduce the portion of the marriage
penalty that is derived from a steep rate structure.

Look at your paycheck stub, its bigger now than it was in May or June.  Not much, but its a beginning.

MORE yet:Eliminating the death tax(Do you REALLY believe the Gov't should get 50% of your estate if you die?) and expanding the charitable deduction to non-itemizers.

Its the gesture guys, you are paying LESS taxes, not MORE taxes.  What a concept!  If you can't figure this out, your a Jihad!

call it whatever hang, it we wouldn't have anything if goron got in... we'd more than likely be payin out more. I agree it's our money not thiers. Funny how the dumocrats are PROMISING to raise your taxes if they are voted into power in 2002. Someone please explain who with half a brain would vote for them after that statement?? I think they will play the class card and promise to tax the "rich", trying to play robinhood to the ignorant. "Rich" meaning anyone not on gov handouts..

Whats even more ironic (moronic?) is that the Democrats in the house and senate have MORE personal wealth than the republicans that are seated in the house and senate.

It's true that it is "our" money, but it is also "our" debt.

Buying votes with a budget surplus, instead of paying down the debt, only transfers the burden to our children.  Probably a good idea to invest the tax refund in a child's college education.  They're gonna need good jobs.

Hmm, when the deficit when up with the Kennedy adminstration, I don't believe I've felt any ill effects thus far.  And if our over seas loans would either be paid, or ceased, I do believe we would be in the black, not the red.  ;)

Hang, who was it who first said:

"If you send it, they will spend it."

This isn't a Republican/Democrat thing. It's a POLITICIAN vs Taxpayer thing.

No matter how much we send, they will find a way to spend it all, and much, much more besides. You can't send ENOUGH to sate them. If everyone making more than $20K send their ENTIRE paycheck to the morons in DC, THEY WOULD SPEND IT ALL AND ASK FOR MORE.

The ONLY answer is to send them less. Starve the bastiges OUT.

As for paying off the debt... if there was a way for ALL of us to do that without the money passing thru the hands of Congress while generating a CREDIT against our Income taxes... yes, I'd support it.

But there isn't and there never will be.

Ask yourself this: Whose money do politicians (in ANY country) spend?

Clue: Not their own.

Starve 'em out. It's the only way.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

psst popeye
send me your refund, I promise I'll use it to pay off debt, mine  :)
As stated above, if the politicians in DC lived within a budget, as the rest of us do, there wouldn't be an ever growing "national" debt. Think subing D.C. for national in the above sentence, would be more accurate. Term limits would go a long way with this. Get the fat arses out into a "real" job. Politics = Power = Corruption as natural as water running downhill..

Heck I might even vote for a referendum for a penny national sales tax solely supporting debt payment.  I don't (nor do most people) buy this don't cut taxes because of the national debt slogan, they could care less (as a matter of fact would probably rather keep it there as a spectre they can raise when the tax cut issue raises it's head again).

I'd also like to see a balanced budget amendment, with only extreme (war time, state of emergency) exceptions.

Would you like a 12 percent tax cut?  That's how much of the Federal budget goes to paying interest on the debt (most of which was accumulated under the Reagan adminstration BTW.)

Thks goodness Reagan spent the money!  You see, Carter admitted to the nation that he should have spent more on national defense (after USSR invaded Afghanastan, after the hostages were taken in Iran), so Reagan carried the ball by implementing military spending budgets that were SUGGESTED DURING THE CARTER ADMINISTRATION! Bet ya didn't do enough back ground check to know that! Thank God he did, or we might be a nuclear waste land, and that WALL might still be there!~

Anyway, my point is that a LOT of money (12 percent of the budget) is being spent to pay just the interest on the debt.  For reference, the Defense Dept. budget is 16 percent of the budget.  One could argue that we actually GET something for that money.

Fatty,

Here's where to send your money:

1.  Make check payable to the "Bureau of the Public Debt".

2.  In the memo section of the check, make sure you write "Gift to reduce the Debt Held by the Public".

3.  Mail check to -

ATTN  DEPT  G
BUREAU  OF  THE  PUBLIC  DEBT
P O  BOX  2188
PARKERSBURG,  WV   26106-2188

(I was surprised to find that this agency actually exists.  I wonder if anyone has ever sent them a check.)   :)

LOL, probably not, but I bet our taxes fund its operation  :)

So if we abolished this department, we would be contributing to paying down the debt, correct?
