What's the big deal in changing sides?
« on: April 27, 2001, 09:20:00 PM »
Didn't wanna post this in the General Forum since the flamers really seem to dive in over there, and this crowd seems a bit more mature and easy-going.

Been flying knights for a while, wasnt to impressed with some of the guys Id been flying with today and thought, what the heck, Ill see if my bish friends are on and want a Lanc driver.  Many of em tell me to plop on over, love to have me back for a while, and that I am always welcome at "home".  Cool!

Well, got the usual "traitor" messages from the children and a few personal ones that were beamed to me REALLY pissed me off.  So, I asked if any of the guys were up for a LONG lanc flight to knit HQ, and several hands went up.  Long story short...lead a gorgeous 4 lanc formation flight to my *beloved* Knights turf and leveled it.  Destroyed, zip, gone, bye bye      You wanna name call me and crap, take that kiddos! Muhahhaha!

And it was all in fun, but Im awed at how many people treat my like Im a traitor because, in the spirit of a game, opted to play with my other friends.

Comments?  I know there are others that wander from side to side and wonder if they get to put up with this crap too

AFAIK you changed side because you were pissed because some knights didn't listen your orders/squeaking.
Then you leveled our HQ with Lancs and keep on squeaking.
What should I think about you? Nothing.

So I was squeaking?  Giving orders?  Oh please, what planet are you from?  I was asking what needed to be bombed, and thought I was doing a good job helping the effort.  You guys burned me and then went on and on about it, with great glee, in insulting me.  So, I went to the other teams where I was welcome, and quite frankly, in one fell swoop, kicked yer tulips and shut down your HQ.

You fly a bomber for 30 minutes and watch your efforts wasted because the people you are trying to assist are idiots.   But hey, you go on, acting as if you know all, and making an bellybutton of yourself.

1. Fly any side you like for any reason you like. It really can be that simple.

2. Understand that it is better to assume that no one on any side will do as you wish they would, so do as you wish to do. (see #1)

It's your $30... fly any side you want whenever you want.

There's nothing immoral or unethical about changing sides. It's within the parameters of the game.

If they don't like it, tell 'em to pack sand... and use a hammer.

BD5 well I don't care what they say if you feel like changing sides do it!!!  I have been thinking a lot about doing the same.  Doesn't matter to me about changing sides hell I did it a lot when I first got in this game.  granted I got kicked out of a group because I didn't know that changing sides was oh so taboo.

LOl to funny man you spend 30 bucks a month on this, I don't need no stinking other piots telling me what i can and cant do.  Glad you fragged the HQ, I always love flying in no DAR    <S>

There is absolutely no end to the number of people who will demand that you play the game their way.

It goes from aircraft choice to fighting style to tactics to game features ad infinitum.

Do what you like and ignore them. Sure they have opinions.... and you know what those are like.

"...So I was squeaking? Giving orders? Oh please, what planet are you from?..."

Actually I have heard you do exactly that on a couple of occasions.  Play your game, and let others play theirs.

Lighten' up, it's only a game.

News to me, I'd love to see you provide evidence....what one considers "orders" comes across to many as suggestions.

Just makes me feel so welcome to fly Knights in the future.  Wouldn't hold your breathe on me coming back...and hope you enjoy flying without radar, mu-ha-ha-ha-ha

Its only a game.  Wanna get upset?  Fly aerobatics with me

I was there BD5, and like on other occasions, you do tend to act like everyone should play the game 'your way' using your strategy.

And then you post a thread about people 'squeaking' at you to play the game their way.

How ironic.   Frankly I couldn't care less what other people do regarding the side they play for.

The way I saw it, when you couldn't get your own way (and people told you where to get off) you switched sides, bombed the hq as though we are supposed to be sorry you left the Knights. How pretentious!

Gotta agree with Dowding here.

Knights may suck, but at least they do not tolerate desktop generals   .

And, when a reject desktop general starts gloating, most people will find it hard not to dismiss the individual in question as a complete git.

And, the loss of one pilot (except if it was one of the great, like Hristo, Mitsu, Cit etc) has only a minimal impact on the war.

My sentiments exactly, Sir StSanta.

I think all desktop generals, apart from Ripsnort (who actually does missions and doesn't whine about 'people should be doing this, people should be doing that'), should all congregate in another country so we can see how much better their approach would be.

Fun would be had by all.

You did ask.  If even a few people take the time to reply and tell you that you sometimes get a little "overbearing", it might be worthwhile examining your actions.

But then we all could be wrong BD5.
