When I was in college the drinking age was 19. When I was in high school, it was 18.
Then Congress blackmails the states into making the drinking age 21 with the threat of holding federal highway funds.
Ms. Bush at 19 could legally OWN the bar she was busted in, but she can't drink a beer in it. How long ago was the civil suit won against that national hotel chain that would not rent rooms to people under the age of 25? Or the rental car companies that do not rent cars to those under 25? I am not talking about requiring an extra deposit, I am talking about refusing to do business with them.
The US raises the drinking age to prevent young people from drinking and driving, thereby reducing deaths....and then we raise the speed limit, increasing highway deaths (in most states).
It's like the earlier discussion about how the kid with a pot conviction can't get a student loan, but the convicted rapist can.
