P-47 had a 4-bladed prop which better utilized the power output (note that the F4U-4 ALSO went to four blades, which contributed to her MARKEDLY improved acceleration over earlier Hogs). Also both, the Jug and F6F had a different version of the R-2800 than what was used in the F4U so the "same engine" argument is flawed at best.
Of course, the BEST way to settle this issue is for one of the stat junkies to post actual flight test data. *hint, hint, nudge, nudge*
