UFOs: little green men OR big brown sh...

I keep seeing these UFO sightings on the the Discovery channel, I am really on a whire as to weather or not to "believe" in that stuff,  on one hand you hear that there is NO conclusive evidence of "aliens"  however on the other hand there is the fact of the utter vastness of the universe and the the basic odds are on the side of life bieng possable and even likley.

So what yall think?

Yes.  They are all around us, thankfully joebob and billy sue had the camera in the doublewide and could catch it on film.  Unfortunately, due to their having sniffed paint thinner for the previous 78 hours, the pictures are a little out of focus...but next time for sure!

Ask me if life is possible elsewhere, absolutely (those you're more likely looking small, if even multicellular, organisms).  Are they those things people catch a glimpse of out of the corner of their eys?  Heh.  See above.

and some of the incidents are freakin hard to explain . one was at a american base in england i belive . officers on a nuclear wepons base basicaly reported walkin right up on a space craft touched it walked around it scrached their nuts and went and wrote a report , phisical evidence the next day tons of witnesses on and off the base . you just cant dismiss some of these accounts . and that is just one .  just scares you toejamless .

Hah, with UFO's, as with many other things, I am a skeptic.

People's WISH to believe in them is one VERY good reason to question them.

Why the hell would a race to technogically advanced that they can send very small flyign thignies to our earth have a need to continually kidnap and barnstorm earth?

Why would they even be interested?

Man's egocentric nature again. And all so human like. It's silly.

We're just feeling lonely and want a friend, and in this case, an imaginary friend.

Life in the universe is a definite possibility, but that's about all one can say about it as this point. knowing the vast expanses of space, and knowing how relatively  limited the chances are of anything we've sent out hitting a significantly enough advanced civilization, it's unlikely that we'll have visitors anytime soon.

First, they have to have the technology. then, they have to be inside the sphere of the range of our broadcast, unless they have some other way of determining/listening for life.
Then, all of this must happen during a very limited time span - they couldda started their civilization, prospered and be all dead many times over.
Then, they'd have to be interested in us. If they've seen our tv shows, they must think of us a combination of very aggressive murderers and soap stars.
Of course, their technology must enable them to use space bending travel, or the wouldn't make it out here in time.

Why go to the outer reaches of the universe to look at bipedal carbon based mammals that are war monging soap stars, when you c an see them perfectly well at home through their broadcasts?

Silly idea.

If it is possible to build something that could cross the distances we're all talking about in a reasonable time (even as long as say a couple years) I can see why they would come. I personally would like to see the things that produced the stupid 50's TV shows that they are seeing now. They see stuff like that and they gotta figure were DANGEROUS.   Hey Lucy! LOL!

Well I think they are out there "ETing" around and the planet just is sorta in their flight path so they check us out.

Mostly they do not even bother to do that but many more stop now since the word got out that "Earth Girls Are Easy."

If the universe is so big, and our solar system is but a spec in the vast universe and there are billions like it, I do believe there has to be millions of intelligent forms of life out there.

However, I'm skeptic about them coming HERE. However, I'd have to see to believe. I dont trust In-Bred Billy Bob and his wife (and sister) Sussy

The one thing that bothers me is why they haven't contacted us directly, i.e. formal introductions to heads of state and the like.  Or maybe they have, and we just don't know it.

I think a couple of things are going on.  

1) It seems as though "sightings" really picked up after the Second World War.  I think some monitor in space picked up the atomic energy signal from the bomb.  Could also have something to do with the amazing increase in travel through the air of our planet also.

2) We obviously are not deemed "worthy" enough of total, back-and-forth contact.  This could be because: a) We have not figured out the key to breaking the speed of light, and b) No one in modern times has built a pyramid.

I don't think pyramids were built entirely with slaves and pulleys.  And I also don't think the way that spacecraft are propelled necessarily follow what we think here on Earth.  

I think that Herbert was pretty much on by thinking that vast space travel is done "between," not necessarily using conventional here-to-there methods.

This could tie in with black holes, and be kind of like that Jodie Foster movie.

I doubt whether I'll see the speed of light barrier broken in my lifetime, but I think that someday we might get there...but not yet.  

And until we do, we'll be thought of as a back-water collection of violent, not-too-smart creatures that the rest of the universe is just going to visit occasionally and monitor until we do.

...oops, have to go.  Two guys in dark suits outside my door.  Or, are they wearing white smocks, carrying a funny-looking jacket that buttons in back?
