It is? Link please? I thought it was only a bootable option at the moment? Or virtual PC which is not quite the same.

Tried to call my buddy who's using the new pc program and its not vitual pc. No answer. I'll try gain tomorrow and give you the link as soon as I can. I tried Virtual PC a few times and that was pretty bad. My old macs never ran it at any speed.

Im still running old OS X on my three macs which aren't intel. I let my guru mac buddy sort out the bugs before I decide to change....:)

Nope, that does not allow you to run windows apps from within OS X. That allows you to run another OS. Different beasts. Think AH shortcut on your OS X desktop.

Or you can get Bootcamp directly from apple here

http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/

As the man said, running Windows XP on a Mac is not the same as running Windows apps on a Mac.

However, one of the e-chronicles I signed up for is running a hypothetical article debating the pros and cons of Apple releasing a standalone version of OS X 10 that will run on something other than a Mac.  Now that Tiger is already out and Leopard is well on the way, it wouldnt be that great a leap to go from Intel based Macs to PCs running OS X.  Now THAT might give Vista some real competition.  :)

I know its not in the "most likely" category, but ............

Nah, OS X still blows for enterprise deployments, VPN support sucks, oh and I just discovered that Safari is non-RFC compliant with the way it does some TCP stuff   (think many hours trying to figure out oddities from complaining mac users on a network only to find its their stupid browser).

So PC software runs better on a MAC with half its CPU disabled.

I wonder if this is the same for a lot of games out there....

I will upgrade to a MAC next time I replace my PC if it is

Bill will be pissed

Why would bill be upset?  At this point you still have to buy a full version of Windows to run their apps.  Bill still makes his money either way.  The people who make PCs would be upset.   The market for new PCs is already dropping, hence Dell making its move away from exclusively selling Intel products in hopes of boosting sales.  HP/Compaq is hurting too (mostly from the crap they pass off as a computer coming back to bite them).  Having Macs that can run Windows and any/all of its apps as fast as Mac apps will just about kill PCs.  If Apple can get its prices down to a reasonable level, and if they'll open up to selling piecemeal like PCs did (for all of those of us who would build our own), they could dominate the computer market without having to ever worry about the software market.  Just running Windows will take care of that for them.

The problem is, a Mac running Windows is just as buggy, just as vulnerable to viruses as any PC.  It's still a Macroshaft OS and you are still limited in software that runs natively on the Apple.  For now.

So it ran AH with high FPS. Lots of high-end, newer, systems do. Hell I get 75+fps in a P4 2.66GHz (single core) on an old Ge4400 128MB.

The fact that it works is great, but that's no smoother than other Intel machines.

I would LOVE some sort of hybrid MAC/Windows OS, as I can't justify owning a MAC just for video editing, and I can't rely on a personal computer that won't run any of the stuff I need to get by (in other words, I can't rely on a MAC), so some sort of system where I can run Final Cut Pro *AND* MS Office *AND* Win-based games, I'd LOVE to have!
