Well, I've gone and done it, bought my first gas grill

First off, I'm a die hard charcoal kind of guys. I've cooked BBQ meat since I burned my first steak in 1974 (and improved since then!) Its ALWAYS been charcoal, just like my dad, and his dad, and his dad...well, you get the point.

Anyway, found a beautiful Vermont Casting 50,0000 BTU gas grill with a nice rotisserie calling my name at Home Depot, on sale. Called up my local contractor and he's coming out today to pipe natural gas to the patio so I don't have to mess with bottles.

I think I took the "Gas" plunge out of convenience more than anything (However "On Sale" always gets my attention!) I'll keep my Webber kettle around for those times I get a jones'sing for that deep charcoal BBQ flavor.

RIP Charcoal bags, and lighter fluid. You helped pack 50 pounds on this frame and I'll miss you :(

Good news is, we'll still use charcoal when camping! :)

Make sure you got the natural gas version and not the propane version. Different regulators and stuff.

Rip - what kind of gas is it, and what colour is the cylinder? I have a gas fire which uses butane (blue cylinder). There are different sized cylinders - mine contains 15Kg of gas. I suspect this is what you have - or do you have the red (propane) gas cylinder?

Yeah, it was special order (Another $25 more)  They'll assemble it when it comes in next week.  I got the natural gas guys out right now piping natural gas to the outside of the house.

Beet: See above.

Why anyone would spend $1,000 on a gas grill is beyond me.

My grill is made from metal.  Seems a gas one would not support the meat.

Reminds me of when I bought a wood stove.  Damn thing was completely consumed by the fire.

Ahh, you bought the Demo model, those dried out.  You gotta keep the wood wet.

Rip sorry to break your lil charcoal heart there Hero, but Ralph Nader had the Vermont Casting 50,0000 BTU gas grill on Recall for Months!!!

Something about unexpected uncontrollable combustion and accidential deaths if I remember correctly.

No wonder Home Depot had them on sale.

:rofl
