Democrats that are supporting G.W. Bush
« on: October 20, 2000, 10:39:00 AM »
I got this off of Gov. Bush's campaign website.  It's a list of all the democrats supporting him for president.  Can anybody tell me how many republicans are supporting the Vice President?  Oh and where is this in the media?   The man know's how to bring people together and he has a real vision of where he wants us to take our country.   I think he's the best man who's been up for the job since the 80's. I even think he's going to do alot better than his father did.

welp I'm off to early vote

Governor Bush Announces Democrat Support For His Candidacy; Current And Former Elected Officials Who Will Help Steer “Americans For Bush/Cheney” Coalition

Includes 22 State Representatives, 7 Former Congressmen, and Two Current Congressmen Including One Independent

Austin - Texas Governor George W. Bush today announced Democrat officials from every level of government, who support his candidacy, and will serve on the Americans for Bush/Cheney National Steering Committee, a new grassroots coalition. Support for Governor Bush crosses party lines and includes Independents and Republicans, as well as former and current elected officials. Democrat civic and business leader, James C. Langdon, Jr., is the National Chairman of Americans for Bush/Cheney.

Members of Americans for Bush/Cheney believe Governor Bush will unite our country around goals larger than politics and set a new, civil, and positive tone in Washington. Hank Williams, Jr., one of Governor Bush’s most prominent supporters, introduced the Governor at today’s event in Blountville, Tennessee. Bush was also joined by Griffin Bell, President Jimmy Carter’s Attorney General, and Bob Crawford, Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture.

"George W. Bush will be a President who can bring Republicans, Democrats and Independents together.  He has a proven track record of unity as Governor of Texas.  This is a man of true bipartisan leadership, and I strongly endorse his candidacy,” said Bell.

"Governor George Bush`s common sense approach to problems and his commitment to the entrepreneurial spirit will help farmers adapt to a global marketplace because Governor Bush believes in increasing trade opportunities, reducing regulatory burdens, and reducing the overall tax burden. As he has shown in the State of Texas, Governor Bush brings Republicans and Democrats together, and this approach will benefit not only farmers but all Americans," said Crawford.

“I’m honored to have the support of Democrats, Republicans and Independents,” said Governor Bush. “As President, I will reach across party lines and pass meaningful legislation to empower people, not Washington D.C.”

I'm happy for you Udie.

This confirms a pet theory of mine:

If you have unlimited cash, a good ol' boy network and a country full of the walking dead even Bonzo the chimp can become President of the United States.

 Blur,

You see you just nullified, with me anyway, any political opinion you have put forth.  Why must you resort to calling or compairing Bush to "Bonzo the chimp" and Bush supporters "walking dead"?  Do you have anything to back up those statements?  I assume your just trolling judging by the mentality of that post.  I'm used to it though, that's all the democrats have offered for years. Is that all you can offer to a debate is insults?  Kinda sad realy, I hope you can overcome that character flaw.

If your idea of freedom is getting lied to by your public officials and having the government control every aspect of your life how bout you move to a socialist or communist country?  Why try and ruin it for everybody here?

BTW,I'm not rich (heck I owe Ripsnort money from the con) and I don't know any rich people and 90% of the people I know are voting for Bush.  Heck a girlfriend of mine can't wait.  She has 2 kids and only makes 30k a year. When GW takes office and gets his tax plan through congress her tax liability goes to ZERO    That's alot less than what Gore would charge her, and there won't be any hoops for her to jump through.  Unfortunatly for me I'm single so my tax burdon will only drop by about $500/yr. I bet under Gore I'd end up paying more.

Blur, you can keep your attitude about Bush and the  conservatives in this country. In fact it's better for us if you liberals do, we love that suprised look on a liberals face when a republican takes over another branch of our government    It's kind of like the look you see in war movies, you know when a guys been mortaly wounded only he doesn't realize it yet.

Oh for Christ's sake, lighten up!

Didn't you see the smiley in that post?

I would never, ever directly compare a respected Presidential candidate to a member of the animal kingdom.

It would be too insulting to the animals!

Blur, that's not what realy got my goat.....

"Udie, you're one of the millions of media-fed cattle! "  ---- you said this in another thread....

"If you have unlimited cash, a good ol' boy network and a country full of the walking dead even Bonzo the chimp can become President of the United States. "--- you said this in this thread....

Both of which are inflamatory statements.  How/why do you expect my to take you seriously when you talk that way about me and people like me? Sounds like "soft" bigotry to me.

If your a libertarian you'd be suprised to find out that our views (yours and mine) probobly aren't that far apart, but when you respond to my post like that I have nothing but anger towards you.  Not a good basis for debate. Polotics are seriouse business to me. It has the ability to effect my life, so I take it extremely serious. Even in this casual forum. hehe you should see me when I debate 1 on 1. NOT a pretty sight, I guess I'm like G.W. I need time to think about what I want to articulate. Which is why I like the "UBB" style of debate.  If I say something too "ugly" I can backspace it out after reading the post.

That being said, I understand this isn't where debating realy matters. BUT I for one think we have some good discussions here that express many points of view from around the world, even Santa   .  I doubt any opinions have been changed here, but it's still nice to see people with diferent views be able to rationaly talk about them, for the most part hehe. Our poloticians could probobly learn a thing or 2 from this board. I don't like it when somebody spoils what we're talking about with trolls.

Anyway, no hard fealings hear if you were just joking. Check 6

 Igloo,

The standards set by President George H.W. Bush are miles above and beyond the standards, if that word is even aplicable, of the Klinton administration. Good God I just realized....

KLINTON WILL BE GONE IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Not true, Blur.  After all, your state has elected Ted Kennedy over and over again.  I won't say which barnyard creature he resembles, but both his physical appearance and character should leave no doubt to which one i mean....

Well, if you compare George Bush Sr's biography to, say, Bill Clinton's or Al Gore's, ol' George would rate a spot on Mt. Rushmore.

What's plain to anyone with their eyes open, Igloo, is that you Liberals have no standards at all.

A canadian perspective

George Bush (sr.) got the shaft from you boys . He was a good man and a patriot and deserved two terms. I guess Perot kinda screwed it for Bush too.

George Jr., doesn't come off as too brilliant , but I don't think that is the case by just looking at his record in Texas. I think he has better leadership qualities than Gore, but the thing that would make me vote for Bush more than anything else is because he has Cheney as his VP. I believe Dick Cheney to be the best man of all of them.

I have a feeling Algore is going to have Clinton on the campaign trail with him.

If he does Algore will fade into the background fast!!!

The big MO is with Bush now and Algore may be forced to beg Clinton for help

It will be very interesting to see Clinton with Algore, very interesting

Ya know there was a wonderful political coup performed in the negotiation among the allies in the Gulf War. The man that did it was Bush Sr. The varied problems that had to be overcome in the most volatile of regions on earth were simply mind boggling.

The son of that man is now running. I think he has more behind and for him than even Gore can invent, lie about or forget.

There is really only one choice. Vote for someone who say what he means or someone who could be the poster child for the Alzheimer association. (apologies to anyone having to deal with that disease for real)
