Check for spyware/malware or virus. No way can Aces High cause your comp to reset itself.

Just to make sure I understand correctly.... the game freezes and then you have to reset the PC manually?

What vid card and system specs do you have? This could either be a driver issue or a heat problem. AH is very hard on both, CPU and vid card.

Try running a DirectX Diagnosis (in windows task bar: START > RUN > tape in dxdiag and hit Enter. Wait till its done its check, then "save all info" to text file. Post the first third of the resulting TXT file here or send it to Skuzzy via email.

No clue but I'd suggest sending an email to hitech:

support@hitechcreations.com

I'd just copy all that you've written when you send it. If you wait till tomorrow, Skuzzy might stop by and see this thread. He should at least be able to help you. My guess would be a driver needs updated/changed. But that's a total guess.

Oh and I love your computers name:lol

It looks like your video card just isn't up to this game. I looked real quick to see what the min. requirments are, but couldn't find it. 64 megs isn't much, and that video on your computer is an intergrated part of the motherboard and the info I found on it says its slow, real slow.

You might try running the 256 textures, and run 800x600 resolution, and turn all the graphic detail to the "preformance" side, but even so, I don't think you'll get far.

The S3 video chip has broken 3D hardware acceleration.  You might be able to get it run by making sure the "hardware vertex" processing is not checked in the game's video settings panel.
Also, you really need to update the video chip driver.

It is doubtful that chip will be able to run the game with any stability.

Find and download updated drivers.

In the Aces High Video Setup page, uncheck the box beside Hardware Vertex Processing.

Cuss at your computer in the extreme likelihood that this doesnt fix the problem.

Go buy a video card.

Disable old onboard video.  Uninstall drivers for it.

Install new video card and drivers.

Play Aces High.

Seriously, even an old last generation video card would be better than what you have now.  What is your budget?

"Drivers" are files that provide instructions for your hardware (in this case the video processor) that tells it how to use the information being sent to it by a program (like Aces High).  Good drivers are like a good recipe, they tell your hardware everything it needs to know and do for every situation that will come up.  Bad drivers are like a recipe that leaves out things like how long to cook something for or what temperature or something like that.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.

Right now most computers with built in video use a processor chip either made by Intel (Intel(R) Extreme Graphics Controller) or the S3 Unichrome you have.  Neither one works well for 3D gaming because the onboard video chips were designed with economy in mind.  Not gaming.  The part that controls 3D graphics is splintered (Skuzzy calls it Broken, might as well be).  Basically instead of having a full set of what it needs for the 3D graphics, they just put in what they needed for the average home user and left out the rest.  The right driver files will make the best use of what is there, but it will never be as good as an aftermarket video card designed specifically for 3D processing.

Here is your driver.

http://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/video/KN_KM400/KM400_16942416_XP_wIShld_logod.zip

It says you need to install the platform drivers and the video drivers.  Good luck.

PS:  If you want to navigate to the download page yourself to read the instructions, go to the page I linked above in the previous post, and on the left side click on the link for Chrome IGPs, then on the next page click on Windows XP, then on the next page click on Integrated Graphics, then on the next page click on KN400 & KM400 Unichrome Integrated Graphics.  Yours is the KM400 (VT8378).
