heres a snippet from an alfred price book on FW190s

'  In october 1942 some of the more experienced pilots in the Gruppe, Dilg included, were ordered to fly to Merville near Lille. On the final day of the month they, and the similarly equipped Jabo staffeln from JG2 and JG26, delivered a thirty aircraft attack on Canterbury, as a reprisal for the increasingly heavy attacks by RAF bombers on German cities.A large force of FW190 fighters escorted the fighter-bombers.Dilg recalled:

"On our way in we hugged the surface of the sea,to keep beneath the prying beams of the British radar. The visibility low down was good but above us at 600m (2000ft) there was an almost continuous blanket of cloud: almost ideal weather for our purpose.Keeping out to sea we skirted around the Dover flak defences, then turned due west to cross the coast just north of Deal.I think we acheived complete surprise: at the coast a few guns opened up an inaccurate fire against us, but we soon left them behind.Flying at our maximum speed we took only 3 minutes to reach Canterbury. We made for a point just north-west of the city, then turned port through a semicircle and ran in to attack. Each Focke Wulf carried a single delayed action 500kg (1,100lb) bomb, fused to explode when the last of the attackers had got clear. At the target the defences were fully alert and they opened up at us with everything they had.Particularly disconcerting were the rockets, which left dense trails of smoke as they climbed in front of us on parallel paths; it looked as though they were trying to erect some sort of wire net in the sky to trap us and i banked steeply to avoid the smoke.Still keeping low, we made our escape along a route similar to that we had used going in.From start to finish, we had been over England less than 6 minutes."

In fact there was no 'net'.The smoke trails were made by anti-aircraft rockets fitted with conventional high explosive warheads, fired by a 'Z' battery near Canterbury. The RAF scrambled sixty-three spitfires and typhoons to engage the raiders, and there were several combats with the escorts. Two of the latter were shot down, including one flown by Adolf Gallands brother, Paul, who was killed.'

from Focke Wulf Fw190 in combat by Alfred Price (isbn 0-7509-2548-5)

thought you might like it as it does confirm we should have below radar attacks in AH if only because its more realistic in my opinion. Also what about those rockets?   :D lets have some of those   :)

Oh yeah ANd delayed action fuses  :D

Yeah I love that story.
Delay fuses - once again the historical record shows they were used on 190s.  Need 'em!  :)
