Helloooooooo Hams!

Quick question.. looking for a 25 watt mobil/base rig that'll talk between 462.5500 and 467.7125Mhz. Need it capable as a repeater for some Midland hand talkies in GMRS. I'm also looking for 3-5db gain base antenna that'll dual band 2m and 440 + Mhz. (I have a 5w Yeaseu dual band HT, but it won't get up into the GMRS bands)

Any ideas?

Well, for a decent multi-band antenna, I've had pretty good success with

Radio Shack Discone

for packet ( LOONNNGGGG time ago ) and general 440/2m repeater work.

I don't remember the gain.. if there is any .. lol..

No suggestions on radios, however.

Packet - thats something you hardly ever see used anymore. I think theres maybe 1 or 2 nodes left around here, there used to be about a half dozen plus many many users.  I still have my Kantronics and MFJ that I will use on 20 meters every now and then

I just located a Yeasu FT-8100 50 watter modded for MARS,CAP,MURS,GMRS,and GOV.

It's got just what I wanted... and the GOV bands! I can see it now... I'll be listening to them while they listen to me! LOL... how orwellian is that?

And I snapped it up for a coupla hundred bucks. :D

Lordy.. I can't wait to find out what kinda trouble this thing will get me into.

Hope the damn thing works!
