Announcing the launch of "Close Escort - A Tour of World War II"
An AHII SEA regularly scheduled event for Sunday afternoons (3 pm est)

Tired of the constant land grab of the MA, the loner suicide porker and the constant lack of teamwork?
Do you long for a historical match up to pit your skills against those your enemy knowing that both of you will be part of something larger in scale?
Do you think you can become an ace in the harsh environment of the air war over Europe?
Have you felt the white-knuckled panic of seeing the tracers fly by your canopy knowing you cannot just click on a button and launch a shiny new ride?

In "Close Escort - A Tour of World War II" you can live the life of a WWII fighter jock or bomber pilot, trying desperately to destroy your enemy, to win the battle and to survive to do it all again.  Each month a new tour will run, each of 3 frames, and each with a historical, but fair, match up from the Blitz across Belgium in Tour One to the Battle for the Rhine in Tour Twelve.  Thats right, a tour of the airwar in Europe lasting a full year and covering many of the most notable events and timeframes of WWII.

Have to say I probably won't do it for the same reason I don't do the Squad Ops, and the same reason I hated the S3s in WB.

Why should guys who fly nothing but fighters, in a fighter squad, be forced to fly bombers 1/3 of the time? To me, bombing in scenarios is about as boring as it gets. Either the escort does its job (nobody to shoot at, drop bombs, yay) or they totally FUBAR it (fighters everywhere, we all died, yay).

No thanks.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

well, thanks for your support.:(

In actuality, so far, I doubt anyone has been forced to fly bombers that didn't want to.   It might come to pass that some may be asked to in the future, but I guess you'll never know if you are unwilling to try it.

This sounds great!

I think advertising in the MA/other boards might bring you some buff pilots.

thanks guys..

BTW, an adhoc squad registration will be available (at first), which eventually will be more like what is done for FSO squads.   That way, squads can have assignments ahead of time. I will post more on this in the CE forum when the time comes.

ALso, walk ons are welcome to Close Escort :)

Maybe before being so quick to judge, try reading the rules and guidlines first. CE has a different set of rules than Squad Ops or Snapshots.

I have never been forced to fly a particular ride in CE.

Events are the best thing going in AH imho.
