It's all about the Second Ammendment for us pro-legal gun owning Americans. You don't like our being able to buy guns legally....fine, you've stated that and am glad you have a system you live in as a British citizen that you like.
But you know what? As an American living here in America, I kinda like the ability to buy a gun legally if I choose to.
Perhaps it is you that fail to see.
But then you can always move to Qatar so you can feel more "safe".
After all, by your reasoning, Qatar is "safer" than England because of less gun violence.
Did you stop driving yet? Crossing the street? Get rid of the knives, or other objects that can be used as weapons? Do you smoke? Drink alcohol?
My goodness, how do you sleep at night worrying about possibly being killed?
Oh, since it's all about guns only, go ahead and move to Qatar where you'll be safe. England has more gun violence than Qatar after all.

I remember we lost 1 (0nly one) empty cartrige , and they keept all of  us there until 2nd day  to find the cartrige,  Was found in the hat of one of the guys, it jumped from MG.  They were soo restrictive, cuz that bulet could be ussed to kill Ceausescu,
  Stupids comunists,!

But in US is too eassy to get a loaded  gun in your hand , (not soo eassy  here in Canada)

...and yet the death toll from guns is a very small one here in the US.

Yeah freedom is just to much for some to handle so lets just throw away those rights you don't like.

Beet's positon on anything is based upon whether or not he wants it/uses it/likes it himself.

As long as the things he wants are available to him, the things other people want are of no importance and can be taken away from them with his cheerful encouragement.

Beet's a dedicated troll, in case there's anyone that hasn't figured that out.

Continue as you see fit.

LOL Toad! I've already said - I have never suggested that Americans be deprived of their gun rights, or be disarmed. And you won't find a thread anywhere on this board where I have. You've got what you want, we've got what we want. Also Bermuda is happy, Iceland is happy, Germany is happy, Japan is happy, Qatar is happy...

Oh wait, are you saying there were Brits who wanted handguns? because whereas I do recall the 1990 poll tax riots, and the 2001 Countryside Alliance march on London in protest at the ban on hunting foxes with hounds, I don't recall any protest in response to the 1997 gun "ban".

But as you're here, please explain to me why a panel of democratically elected politicians has seen fit to ban gun ownership in America's capital city.

The point you continually miss Beet is that it isn't the guns.

If it were, please explain the crime rate in Switzerland wrt to Iceland or GB.

Further, you have never showed any respect for the desires of anyone but yourself. Is your dentist a threat to public safety? Why should he have to go to the Czech Republic to practice his hobby? You don't care a whit, though... your ox isn't being gored.

It's not about lives, either. You don't support banning the most indiscriminate, highest numerical killer in England: alcohol. Tough luck for your fellow citizens that perish due abuse of a beverage YOU happen to like. Can't ban that; Beet would be unhappy. Guess they'll just have to keep on dying.

As for gun banning in DC, it would be most likely because they are knee-jerk, law-passing politicians much like the ones in England after Dunblane/Hungerford. Both were feel good actions that had no statistically significant effect on crime/homicide rates. All they have done is deprive honest people of a simple right (in the case of the US) or pleasure (in the case of England.) Of course, you still support something shown to have no effect whatsoever on homicide rate in England.

So, troll, the bottom line is that you are happy with your situation and tough darts for anyone else that lives where you live that doesn't like it.

Not really.. ammuntion and guns are locked up and inaccessible to children in every wal-mart i've ever been in. And hockey sticks, bow and arrows, shoes with cleats, baseball bats and all manner of dangerous 'toys' that can kill are readily available in Canada.. or Romania.

PEOPLE kill people. And, they've been doing an outstanding job of it without guns for thousands and thousands of years.
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

angus... your friend bought a .45 in OK?  So tell me.... How many people has he shot and killed with it so far?

I noticed that you didn't reply to my statement that I could get a handgun in your country in two weeks no problem... I have said the same to beetle...  I can get a handgun in england in two weeks no problem.... It would be illegal of course but....

And that is the point... you don't have handguns (visible) being used in crimes because the penalties are high not because they can't be found.

How many murders do you have with rifles and shotguns...  how hard is it to saw one off to conceallable size?   15 minutes?   Why don't your crooks do that?

I enjoy shooting handguns and I also believe that they are a great defensive tool... It is none of your business.   If you try to take em away from me I consider that to be a threat on my life and my human rights.

That is why it is difficult to have a "civil" conversation on it.   I do not believe that you have the right to decide what firearms your countrymen are allowed to own.  You only have the right to decide what ones you and your dependents can have.

OOpsie ?!?!
Anyway:
"Like I said, you're the equivalent of a "gated community" here; check the crime stats for our gated communities. They're very low. Very low."

Then you should check our stats from countryside vs city. Murder rate last year..s 0%
Armed robbery 0%.
Armed anything 0%.

Very close to your gated communities I'd say. It always goes worse when people stash together tightly.
But can you still support your belive that adding conceilable firearms to the fray and loosening up on the stiffeness of the government in allowing those necessary gadgets for home protection will lower crime rate? I saw nothing.
And since our country is after all, so "gated", why is the USA still the highest one in capital crime of all the old 1st world nations? They're all "gated" or small I guess....
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
