Platan0 fighting in 1v2 situations...

Platan0

You said that you had problems with fighting 1v2 situations.

I really suck at fighting 1v2s and cant even win 1 out of 10 but I do know some theory behind it.

Most important thing is that you should never ever fight one enemy at the time. Dont try to get plane X out of the fight so that you can deal with plane Y later.

Constantly deal with the biggest threat. After each manouver assess the situation and deal with the biggest threat.

Say you have one pilot to the left comming towars you and one pilot a bit above you. You have to deal with the one who is comming in to shot you from the left. Merge with him then its important to not make a manouver that would expose you to his wingman.

In a 1v1 you would want to immelman inorder to get on the plane you just merged wtih. Not necessarily a good move because if he is in a shallow dive towards the point where the merge was then you will lift your self up and setting up a great shot for him.

So perhaps you need to do a high yoyo after the merge instead and merge with the second plane.

Once that merge is done, evaluate situation. Deal with biggest threat.

What you wanan acomplish is to get them close to each other and on the same side of you so that you can merge with both of them at the same time. Then you can choose which one to attack. Dont saddle up, take a snapshot and back to dealing with biggest threat.

Basically if im 2v1 I never want to saddle up...cuz basically im being towed if I saddle up... I have to work on that cuz I always tend to saddle up to try and get rid of plane X first to then deal with plane Y.... meanwhile plane Y is giving plane X directions and BOOM! im back in the tower..

First thing to do is to get them both on the same side.  Second, kill the Spit first :)

Use for bait, the one who thinks he's baiting you to kill the 2nd guy - hopefully you can kill the one coming in on you before the one you're originally going for can reverse back.

always be aware of where they are and deal with the bigger immediate threat even if it means pulling off the other.

and if you have a kill oppt'y, even it means hanging yourself out for a bit, go for it, but always keep in mind that 2nd plane's location and attitude.

Its hard to explain for me, but its like when I latch onto the 1st guy, I try to look like im on him, but Im actually setting up for guy #2. The second I break on guy #2, guy #1 becomes my main priority, even though it doesnt look like it.

Here is what I would do.  Merge HO with the guy on the left (dont get shot though).  Then nose down a little to pick as mach speed as you can, and extend 2 or 3K.  The goal is to place them both on the same side (your 6 or your 12).  Now reverse, make a high speed pass and extend.  Now the goal is to get them as close to eachother as possible.  Once they are close to each other, you can fight them same way as you would in a 1 vs 1.

Have you ever been to the AvA???? Not to many spits >.> makes for some funner fights than having to BnZ the turning Spit like in the MA.

eh..it's a game of chess.

I try to split them up so I can have them basically 1v1.  I will change targets to whatever is the most opportune at that moment.
At the same time I try to put distance between the two. I will make the fight travel horizontally as well as vertically, in the hopes that one of them will get a bit disoriented in the fray and lag back a bit.

In truth though, I mostly get killed.  But, occasionally I manage to fly home after a 1v2 or 1v3. rarely, but it do happen.

Shane is a good stick btw, but oncet I gits my feel back, why....I'll get kilt a bit slower!

(you ever coming back to the fold Shane?)

cheers,

I am sure your coment has something to do with something.  Just not sure what.

Now, as far as spits go, they are not the problem.  The problem is people like you that get in a spit and get their arses handed to them.  They can't cry about it since they were in a 'dweebfire' so what do they do?  They take up a 109 or other brick with wings that does not turn.  Now, they stil get their arse handed to them but hey, it was not them, it was because the other guy was in a spit.  Ocasionaly, when the spit is out of ammo, fuel, wep, and outnumbered they will get a kill and WOW they are soooooo good. They can kill a spit in a flying brick, they must be really good :rofl
so they move to their own arena.  They call it AvA.  That implies Spits vs 109s and guess what???!?!?!?  They cry about the dweeb fires.

Thats is the only reason you guys have fun flying other planes :noid

cleaning up spits in the MA is easily done with the 109 because most of the players in the MA are very new or they get stuck in the run HO gang run style of fighting that they don't improve their game. maybe 5% of the players in any given session are good A2A players.  in the AvA a guy in a spit, depending on the planeset is a handful.  The spit has the potential to rule any fight as long as the opposing player plays the spit's game.  The spit16 can absolutely own the fight if the players are equally skilled and the spit player doesn't make many mistakes.  I didn't catch your ingame handle there retired, do you play?
