The coolest Rock and Roll tune ever!
« on: February 09, 2001, 12:25:00 PM »
LOL! For those that have never heard the song before you got to get it. I just downloaded Napster and got it off there to play over and over while I'm flying. LOL!

Go into Napster and enter the artist:
LaVern Baker

Then the song:
Jim Dandy

I just love that song. It's so cool.   I hope you guys get a kick out of it too.

Yes I remember. That's cool. I'm hoping to get a few people that never heard it before to down load it. It's such a groovy tune.

Jimdandy, I'll look for you next time I log on.  I will try to hunt you down with the ferver of someone that hates the very essence of the music you are listening too.

That Jimdandy song playing in the background merrits punishment.  You will pay dearly.

LaVern Baker??? The song was originally done by "Black Oak Arkansas"?

Hardly the coolest R/R tune ever! You need to listen to some more music.

Just noticed you are flying for rooks.  My squad is rooks this tour wich means I won't be able to hunt you (damn you killshooter) until next month.  Given that my memory is only good for about 3 days, you're pretty safe.

Could you remind us next month that you listen to this gawdaweful music while you fly?  It will help to refresh my memory

Ok guys I'm going to have to shoot the Black Oak Arkansas thing in the foot. As with many songs today and back then Jim Dandy was a remake. The original was done in 1957 and song buy LaVern Baker. I know Black Oak did a version but they weren't the first. I love lots of different kinds of music including Black Oak Arkansas, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, James Brown, Rush, Miles Davis, Marty Robins, The Guess Who... I listen to a variety of music. I just happen to think that song is very unique. It's different. The lyrics, the content... there aren't many songs like it. I think LaVern does the best job with the song myself. Down load them off of Napster and see what you think. Just my preference.

LOL DejaVu I've been shot down by so many people it really doesn't matter. LOL. I've never even looked at my Kill to death ratio but I bet it's less than one.

"Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown"
"Along Came Jones"
"Jim Dandy to the Rescue"
"Charlie Brown"

As an infamous AH squad might call it- "Tard Rock".

I will take up your slack, AKDejaVu. Proponents of such "culture" should die a painful, flaming death.

BTW I think LaVern Baker was on of the greatest female R&B singers of all time. She put the neatest inflection and emphasis into her voice.
