It details the achievement of a female cadet - sounds like she did very well.

Because I said dikes? Good thing I didn't say gay. Some of you must not know about the tradition surrounding these schools. To be honest I was outraged when I found out VMI had to admit women into this institution. Ban me lol, scary thought IMO.

Do some research on the school called mary baldwin and its cadet corp, then come back to this discussion with a different view.

I do not mind that woman are cadets, but when you break tradition just to make a point it is ridiculous. I dated a cadet that graduated from mary baldwin, and we had heated arguments on this subject. I feel it is an outrage so be it.

That is because you are ignorant of US laws.
While any private person or institution can choose who to admit to his/her/it's property, VMI is partially funded by US government and according to US law it must comply with the rules applicable to public institutions.
Since gender discrimination is illegal in US, VMI was in the wrong all that time.

VMI could have preserved their tradition if they had chosen to forgo the government grants funded by taxpayers money (many taxpayers are female, for your information). There are planty of all-girl or all-boy schools in US. Just that none of them are public or publicly subcidised.

The rule is simple here - you can make your own policies if you pay for them.

As for you considering that any tough women must be a dyke, meaning a lesbian, I can only make one conclusion - you must have had very strange selection of women in your life (mother, sister(s), girlfriend(s), wife(ves)) - were they all subservent, uninspired, weak, barefoot, in kitchen, always pregnant type? Hard to believe...

I suppose at one point black people were not allowed to enter VMI - because it was *tradition*. Or perhaps you agree with keeping it a white-only institution? After all, you share Miko2d's belief that black people are intellectually inferior to the 'Great White Race'.

For one thing you people really do take things way to serious. And if you read the article which it seems you didn't it was not based on one woman but quite a few actually. As far as saying dikes I could honestly care less if they were or weren't. Its a word, and Dowding why the hell do you keep bringing blacks up when they have nothing to do with the subject. Seems to me your the one who has a problem with them.

You, sir are a liar! At least in my eyes intentionally misqioting someone is a lie.

While I happen to trust multiple studies that demonstrate blacks to have lower average IQ then white people, I would neve use the term "Great" as in 'Great White race'.

This word has an emotional meaning and assumes respect.
If a simple math demonstrates that white race has an advantage, why would I respect it for achieving more? I would no more call white race "great" then I would call black race "bad" or "evil" or any other derogatory term.

Do you read your own posts?! YOU brought up *tradition* and the importance of it. I was merely pointing out that if tradition was rigidly adhered to, blacks would not be admitted to your VMI, there'd be segregation on public transport ad nauseum.
