disable score option for Jekyll and Hyde types
« on: June 16, 2001, 02:14:00 PM »
I've traced my frustration I encounter in AH directly to the score pages.

would greatly apreciate it if an option could be provided to disable ones score so that one does not even consider it a factor when flying.

thanks
Fester was my in game name until September 2013

Or you could just ignore your score.

That works just as well.

Let me get this right Cit.. in tour 17 you've got better than a 10:1 k/d ratio and your SCORE is getting you down??????

Geez... I would have loved to have been that bad at AH  ;)

well i have to agree with citabria.

i know that a few tours ago i decided i was gonna fly "realistik" and try to stop being so stupid. well i was 30/0 in my 109 g10 when i spawn thinking ill be ok taking off  since my ack was up even though there was a f4u 10 k over the field... well the f4u suicided and strafed me but died to ack and i sore atthat guy like a mofo since my score had been ruined. if there hadnt been score i wouldhnt have cared, would have just respawned and killed the bastard next time.

It's not that crazy of an idea.

I bet a lot of the animosity in the main can be attributed to scoring and the things that go along with it..reputations, ego, etc.  Lately I've been playing in a couple of environments where there is no score and find it much more relaxed.

Might loosen up what is a very timid arena in general also.  Travelling in huge packs, running at the first hint of trouble, etc. all to "protect" their score.

Is there a valid reason not to make it an option to "opt out" of scoring?

Realistic?  People tracked their streaks in real life.  They just didn't have to worry about denominators other than 0.  That is.. if a 1 crept into the k/d... they weren't around to fret over it. realistic.  If you're fighting to live and you die... you are going to get pissed regardless of the presence of a score page.

And cit.. don't compare it to the dar... unless you can possibly come up with some way that someone else's use of the score page might give them an advantage over another pilot that doesn't look at it.  Sheesh.

As for the original subject.. I wasn't aware that HTC had a screen that popped up displaying your score automatically.  Has this changed?  Does score now hold some special relevance that it didn't before?  Does it affect ammo load or turning ability?  Does a better score give you better aircraft or give your favorite aircraft uber abilities?  If not.. what NEED is there to look at it?
