How do you hit a bomber with rockets? I was told thet are air to air. Is this true?

Only the German WGr 21 rockets are air-to-air, but hitting anything with them is difficult and needs a lot of practice. For best results, approach buffs from 6 oclock, match their speed and fire from about 1.4k. And good luck...

Also, there are 2 ways to use the German rockets.

Lusche described the tactics for the fused "airburst" method, which makes the warhead into an aimed "puffy ack" burst. The damage varies, and may not be much.

On the other hand, the very difficult but guaranteed deadly way to use them is to actually hit the plane with the rocket. That is a killing shot, but is nearly impossible for we mere mortals.

That being said, I have lost 2 out of 3 bombers to a P-38L at 1.5K using rockets. Dont remember who it was -- loong time ago -- but he said he walks the rockets onto the target. Funny thing was, the things are so deadly that I never knew I was getting killed until I saw the buffer...the drones just vanished without a trace!
