How about that FSU team???
« on: September 10, 2001, 10:53:00 AM »
Who'd have thought they'd still be undefeated?  By the way, I'm not talking about my FSU team, but the OTHER FSU team!   :D  Little Fresno State has upset Colorado, Oregon State and Wisconsin and is ranked in 11th by the media.  Hell, they're playing better than my FSU, so I'll give them our #6 ranking.   :)  They beat Colorado in Boulder and Wisconsin in Madison.   They have a fantastic shot at going 13-0 BEFORE a bowl game!  If they do that, they better get an at large BCS bid at least, though I don't think they'll get up high enough in the BCS rankings to get to the Rose Bowl.  This isn't like TCU going undefeated.  These guys beat two ranked teams (from the Pac10 and Big10) and a decent team from the Big 12.  Go little FSU!   ;)

As for my FSU...  first major game is this weekend.  Georgia Tech at home.  We faced a better front 4 last week in UAB (their entire front 6 was fantastic actually!), but Tech will have more depth on defense, tho still not as much as FSU has.  This game could go in many different directions.  Could be low scoring if the defenses play well, could be a shootout if they don't, and could be a blowout.  FSU will win because it's at home, but it should be a good game.

The state of Florida is where it's at this weekend, GT at FSU, Tennessee at Florida and Washington at Miami.   :)

Yeah Nifty I hope Fresno State does well.  As for your FSU they did good this weekend and my boys played the old yellow flag game with your team on Saturday.  I hated to see the score like that as I was expecting our defense to hold it a bit closer.  Still though the game was hard fought and I was glad to see that FSU scored under 50.

LOL!  I'll be at the game this weekend in my usual nosebleed seat in the 72nd row.  It's in the section right next to the visitors, and directly above where they'll put the GT band.  It's cool, I can pick my seats out when I play NCAA 2002 on the PS2.  LOL  My friend from here is going with me and we're staying at his sister's condo.  It's right next to the stadium, too!  Much closer than where we usually have to park up by the School of Education!   :D  Plus there's the bonus that's she's cute and so are her friends.   ;)

oh yeah, it's a shame the Miami game is the same weekend as the Con.  I was all ready to sell my tickets and go to the Con.  Now I can't go to the Con because I have no time off, and I'm not flying over just for the weekend.  :(  So I guess I'll just have to go the Miami game now.  Oh well, it's not a bad second choice for that weekend.   :)

<S> to your team!  You've got a fantastic defensive line, perhaps the best front 4 in the nation, and definitely the best we'll play this year.  The score was about what I expected.  I figured we'd only get the end zone about 3 times, and get a few field goals as well.  That held true to form as we got 3 of each.  It would have been a hell of a lot closer if our receivers hadn't made a few great plays, tho if Rix had put the ball on the money on the first play it would have been a TD as Walker had his man beat.   ;)  I was impressed with our defense, I figured Aaron and Dugger would have gotten it going more often than they did.

You guys should win your conference and have a fair chance at going undefeated the rest of the way.  UAB at USM is gonna be a great game!

.  We used to have a huge house on Edwards Street, just over the bridge.  Renting parking spots in the yard paid for a couple of kegs and a week's worth of groceries every home game.

The lawn parties off both sides of pensacola and back around the tavern are always a blast, just dangerous when it's a night game (too much drinking time)  :D

Being a former player for UAB I was less than impressed with the tackling job done by that no load CB on Rix at the goal line.  Sure he would have gotten pounded but at least he wouldn't have been plastered all over ESPN highlights with the attempted chicken wing tackle he pulled.  Aaron was quoted after the game as having fun during the game but he over threw just about every reciever he had open.

I am looking forward to the game up at Pitt this weekend.  As well as looking at the game against USM as the measuring stick for how far we have come in the conference.

Man, half my post got cut off.  Anyway, I was trying to express some admiration of the Blazer basketball program, but the football upside is new to me.

If you want to get to the elite level then you're going to have to play into it, like UAB is doing.  That's what UCF has done of late, it's what Bobby Bowden did in the late 70s and 80s when he started at FSU to get it where it is now.

3??  Last week FOUR Florida teams won (can't believe you're not talkin' about the USF win, Eagler!!!)  UCF lost though, so we didn't get a 5 win week in Div IA.

Fatty, sweet spot for sure!  I passed all the spots on Belle Vue when I walked from my apartment to the game.  Lived on Jackson Bluff and Ausley.  Kind of a long walk, but better than leaving cars somewhere and trying to drive out of that mess.  I agree with you on night games, but for a different reason.  The tailgaters wouldn't stay as long after a night game, which meant a lot less free beer, free food and money for us!  We'd go around in small groups and play school songs for the fans after the game.  They usually opened their beer chests afterwards and shared food.  The best was after the 1996 Gator game.  We decided to go down where the RVs were parked instead of our normal route.  Good eatings and good drinking!  I think about 13 of us went in that group, we all got full, hammered, and cleared $70 each.  Even a Gator fan got into it.  He said he'd give us $20 if any of us could play that damned Gay Gotors (Go Gay-tors, err, Go Gators!! hehe) cheer.  We played it in high school, so I got us the $20.   ;)

USF did not have football in the late 70's  :)

I did see they won but they and UCF look like good high school football to me  :)
