He came close to an airliner apparently:

The head of the Tampa air traffic controllers union told the St. Petersburg Times that the plane passed just 1,000 feet above a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 that had taken off moments earlier from Tampa International Airport.

Tampa controllers warned the pilots of the Southwest Airlines jetliner and they quickly slowed their climb, said Joe Formoso, the head of the controllers union.

``It was only by the grace of God that the Southwest pilots saw it,'' Formoso told the newspaper.

MacDill should have blasted the nerd with a surface to air. Would have made a smaller boom then some of the New Year Eve fireworks..

Next, the news orgs shouldn't be glamorizing it by showing the creeps face on national/global tv. Just fuels other losers ambitions for "glory".

what a waste...

Next attempt: driving an electrically powered wheelchair with manure slapped on the lap into a nuclear reactor.

Watch out America! The Kids Who Want Attention are on the way.

Geesh. Wish I could say "Only in America", but we got such psycho's here too.

Feature this... if the Military had whacked this guy, there would be nothing left.

And the slavering press woulda been all over 'em for snuffing out the life of a 15 year old lost student pilot.

If the kid had hit that commercial air flight, there would have been nothing left... and the press would have been all over the flying school an the FAA for allowing it to happen.

Regardless, Flight Schools will see even further rectrictions and General Aviation will still get a black eye.. no matter what; it's a lose-lose deal for General Aviation intrests.

I'm expecting some jack-ass to pack a pound or two of C4 into a sporty .40 R/C trainer and fly it into a building any day now... and that'll be the end of R/C in this country.

*sigh* What next?
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.

Nah they were staight.  What the hell do expect from a kid with straight parents from florida.  Just goes to show you what old time "family values" do for you.

Pity this kid was so screwed up he went and killed himself, glad he didn't take anyone else with him.  But the irony in regards to what we were talking about a little while ago is funny...in a not so funny way.

Where is all the talk about gay, Californian, left coast, bleeding heart liberals?

Hypocrits.

I imagine it sucks, when you can't wrap things up in a little package and lable it.

Except you easymo, I imagine you'll always be able to find a sweeping generalisation so you don't have to think.

Have a nice day.

Most people are more than their relgion, sex, sexual orientation or what have you.

These are things that are PART of most peoples lives, it doesn't define them.  By making a generaization about someone or some group of people, based on one facet of thier lives, you are going to miss alot about thier individual motivations.  If everyone said, "Oh well this kid is islamic (can you point to a reference that says he was?"  Then no one would learn toejam about his actions and why he upped and killed him self.

I guess most of us don't really care or afraid of the answers.  So we slap lables on him (or those around him).  It makes us feel safer.  "

Well he was islamic...so it figures."  What about the thousands of islamic people living in the US, everday, that don't go driving Cessnas in to buildings.  "Well his dad was gay...Well he was ex-military....Well her parents were liberals...Well his parents were conservatives...

diddly it, whatever floats your boat.
