flak thoughts
« on: May 19, 2001, 01:05:00 AM »
i was watching a special narrorated by a p47 pilot the other day and got an idea or two i thought i'd throw out there. if ya don't like it, print and use as cat litter or somethin -

he served in the last 8 mos of the war and said as the germans retreated they moved their flak guns with them and the result was a higher amount of flak in a smaller area. it made it much harder to attack targets and they suffered more casualties as a result. i know we have issues about base capture and thought movable flak might be interesting - did they move them by train???- i don't know much about it and people hate it as it is so i dont know how feasible it is....might just be a hassle

another idea came from a tape recording i have of a lancaster crew over berlin in 44 (maybe 43 i forget)they describe flying over the city and being flooded in search lights - right about then the fw-190s come swarming in. searchlights might add an interesting aspect to night fighting but probably only around the cities and only if they were bigger. it might backfire for the bases as they are now-it might make it easier to hit find hard to find bases as they are now at night.

any thoughts? is this stuff hard to program?

edit: oops meant to post this in gen discussion oh well dont drink and post

Someone said that due to the way AH models lights, landing lights could not be done (I mean lights that actually illuminate an area around them).

If this is true, the searchlights are not possible either.
