Screen Freezes
« on: January 04, 2026, 11:49:57 AM »
Hello,

I have a modern Windows 11 PC, 32gb RAM, solid state drives with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070.  All patches on OS and graphics card are up-to-date. However, when my plane is almost in range to shoot the game graphics routinely freeze for about 2 seconds.

I tried scaling back every conceivable video option without success.

Is there anything specific I should look to change to fix this?

Thank you,

Slade  :salute

His has been ongoing since VR and the DX11.exe. DX11 he only difference is VR. If you don’t use VR use the DX9.exe. Sounds like you’re referring to the micro-freezes. DX9 will fix that. If it doesn’t we’ll have to check other things out in Windows.

Good luck

Yes

How do I set that for this game in Windows 11?

Thank you.

To use the DX9 version of the game, navigate to C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III (if you installed the game at the default location) using windows manager (file folder on the task bar next to the search window).

Right click on the aceshigh9.exe file and select "create an icon" it will put it on your desktop. Use this to start the game and you will be in the DX9 version.

The Fugitive, Eagler,

Thank you!  So far I think that fixed it.
