When I view some older films, there are large areas of the terrain that are blacked out. Any idea what is causing it?

I believe it is because you don't have that terrain loaded anymore on your system in the HTC folder.  I may be wrong though... can anyone confirm this?

Switching to fullscreen view always fixes it on mine.

Yes, forcing the terrain to reload should get rid of the black patches. Switching to full screen reloads the terrain.  I found that hitting the Open File button while the terrain is loading is one way to cause the black patches.
