Does he go on to say whether we should be worried about this 'village idiot' - or any ambiguous passages about what follows? (3 guesses which person of note that applies to)

Cheers

yeah he does:

"To an old chief will be born one with dull senses.  Degenerate both in knowledge and in weapons.  The chief of France feared by his sister,  Fields divided, conceded to the soldiers on horses."

Christ only knows what that means.  Bush is gonna insult the French?  I dunno.

And:

"The year following discoveries out of a flood, two leaders elected, the first one will not hold.  For one of them refuge from fleeing a shadow, plundered [will be] the house which [the] first will maintain."

Plundered?  Talking about the White house getting trashed and Clinton taking everything with him?

and:

"The sky will burn at forty-five degrees latitude, fire approaches the great new city [New York City lies between 40-45 degrees]Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up.  When they want to have verification from the Normans [French]."

So the French are gonna nuke New York?

furthermore:

"At a latitude of forty-eight degrees at the end of Cancer (July 22) there is a very great drought.  Fish in the sea, river and lake boiled hectic, Bearn and Biggore (Southwestern France) in distress from fire in the sky."

And the USA is gonna retaliate and nuke France.

Swoop, he was just off by 8 years. What he wanted to say was '92.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Of course you guys realize that Nostradamus wrote his predictions in a mix of latin and old french, making it almost impossible to understand, unless of course if you choose your words...

I never fail to be amused by posted quotes when it is so blatantly obvious that the poster never read the original material

oh dear, oh dear.

The "Village idiot hoax", as you put it, is not actually a hoax.  The actual wording of the quote is certainly modernised for comedy effect, but the quote itself holds true.

Check my 2nd post, those are direct from the quatrains (other peoples translations but close enough).

"To an old chief will be born one with dull senses. Degenerate both in knowledge and in weapons."

Either way, it's still all true  :P

Swoop, Nostradamus is like the Bible. Interpretation is the key to it all - you can make them both say just about anything.

Shame none of us speak the dialect old Nosty used, because I suspect we'd realise he was completely and utterly bonkers.

Funny idea though.

Heh, don't tell me you guys believe in the telling of the future?

If so, I now know just how far apart we are when it comes to faith  .

Diversity is good, I like it  .
