Can you show me where I said Florida voters were dumb?  I'm simply saying that if you rebuke one system of democracy, one had better be willing to do it across the board.

Understand a couple of things. This ballot was DIFFERENT than the ballots used in every other country in the state of Florida. Some of you guys seem to be under the impression that if you walk across county lines into Palm Beach you suddenly get hit with the stupid stick.

Take a look at  this picture. It provides the breakdown of votes for Buchanan county by county. Do you not see anything slightly off kilter here?
 
This doesn't take into count the ballots that were outright trashed due to the confusion.

Anyway, if you don't believe  me, email me and you can call me mother, she'll think you're kinda wierd for asking her questions about it, but she can confirm the $752 dollars I won for 5 number, I ended up buying her a couch with it.

Seriously, I am generally a Dem.  Not always, but ideologically I am closer to the Democratic Party than the Republican party.  That said, I will be very disappointed in the Dem's if they try to overturn the election in court over that ballot.  I am hoping its just posturing that will be dropped when the official recount is finished and regardless of its outcome.

That ballot was a goof, not a conspiracy.  And the goof was made by people from both parties from what I can tell.  The absolute worst thing that could happen out of this would be to get the election result nullified based on that.  A horrible precedent, and you can bet it would become a standard political tactic used by both parties in the future.  This crap only escalates.

I'd rather see all of this energy spent on getting the electoral college done away with ::thumps Toad::  Do the recount, when its finished, accept the outcome and move on.

Gordo, if you get your way the only places the next candidates would visit would be the major population areas.

Strategically, they would of necessity pander even more to the special interests of this particular sub-group of the electorate.

Couldn't agree more Gordo, and many that know me also know I'd be knocking 'Pubs if they were doing what the 'Dems are doing..

In regards to the electoral college, I believe they should keep it as it allows the smaller population states (Rhode Island,Wyoming, etc) an opportunity to 'be counted' thus forcing the politicians to campaign all states, not just the ones where money, and power reside (California, NY, etc) Politicians must listen to everyone from every equal state in the union .
