BREAKING NEWS: 4.40pm
Television personality and environmentalist Steve Irwin has died in a marine accident in north Queensland, Australian state government sources say.


According to AAP the 44-year-old is believed to have been killed by a stingray barb that went through his chest.

He was filming an underwater documentary off Port Douglas when the accident occurred says AAP.

Mr Irwin's body was being flown to Cairns.



Cripes! I often swim around some very large stingrays when I go fishing near our place (I never try to catch rays... they break your rod).

I really enjoyed his outgoing style and sincere enthusiasm for learning about and protecting the natural world around us.  Australia has lost one of her leading men :cry

Kinda sad really, I visited australia zoo when I was a teen before he became 'famous'. The guy was quite active in wildlife preservation without being annoying like a peta-tard.
