Xasthur has a significant point.
I know quite a few who have quit AH because the direction it was going in didn't suit them and the lack of "real" weather was one point. You can't please everyone and generally I think AH have got it about right and cater for the majority.
I really enjoyed tring the Beta one day when take of and landing had become tricky! - I quickly realised there was a crosswind and had loads of fun just doing circuits and bumps totally ignoring the one runway that was into wind !
None the less, turning the elements on once in a while would really suit me. Perhaps a couple of days a month in a M.A. with some sort of schedule of when it's going to happen.
As for wind shear! - That would be a real killer due to the limited feedback the game will give at critical approach speeds. - Yes go for it, but with a couple of kills in the bag, getting killed on approach will not be to everyone's liking !
