X52 stick spiking
« on: October 06, 2006, 04:35:39 PM »
Rudder axis (twisty) started spiking badly this week.  Tweaked deadband on the axis in windows game controls and AH and it's just spiking too much to help.  Recalibration, changing USB ports, and reinstalling the drivers/SST software didn't fix it.  Does the X52 have pots that can be cleaned?  I seem to remember  reading the pots were sealed.  Any suggestions?

Unfortunately the best idea is to get some rudder peddals and not to use the twisty (you'll be amazed how much more control peddals give you too.)  Of course a new X-52 will cost you less than the peddals...but hey:huh   As I recal the X52 has a 'non potentiometer' system for the x/y axis so those should be ok.

The X-52 twist axis pot is kinda a pain to remove and clean , the wires to it are very easy to break so be careful. The X/y axis are hall sensors so like alf said they should be good for quite some time . I cant for the like of me remember if the pot was sealed thou  , i took it apart to put a lighter spring in the twist / Pot assembly so it was lighter to the twist.
