Vista notes, intel dual core
« on: October 09, 2006, 12:23:06 AM »
I have been running Vista RC1, On a Decked out Dell Inspiron E1505 with 256MB Nvidia video card. 2gb of ram
Rather buggy, Vista seems to drop my wire or wireless connection, game play seemed slow. AS my squadies will atest to, warpping very badly. NO joy in playing this weekend. Other then that sure looks Vista looks pretty.

Reinstalled XP, (deleted Vista) now have spinning clipboard,  game lock up on start up. My laptop is dual core Intel, When new Aces worked with out any issues Tried the AMD 64 fix and ran game in Compatablity mode for 98.
seems to work fine now and seem really fast. Did try a sortie and no warpping! I dont know if I am missing a up date from Dell for the intel dual core processor.

1az, when I boot to Windows, all I see and interface with is XP Home.  Where is the "compatibility option?"  What is it?  And what is the proper adjustment to fix?

Thanks,

hap

Hap, the comptibility option can be found by going to the actual executable file in the program files/htc/aceshigh/ directory and right clicking it. Click on properties and you'll see a tab at the top that says "compatibility".

Not any more.

That problem only affected AMD dual processors also running XP, but even for those folks recent patches to XP have solved the problem.

I, for one, run a Core2Duo Conroe with no problems (and a lot of joy...)

>I AM USING THE INTEL DUAL CORE PROCESSOR<
This wasnt an issue till I loaded the crappy software called Vista.
So far everything is fine, since changing the compatability mode

I work for a nation wide computer service company. Im expecting a huge increase of service calls when this "wonderful piece of software" hits the market.

Is there any one beside me that would love to see a Linux or Apple port?

Aces high and alot of other stuff isnt working on my 64 bit Amd with Vista rc2 installed .  the 64 bit version is all Fubared right now and has tons of driver /registry problems . (dont even try to get the 5.1 sound working )

i have the 32 bit rc2 verson but i havent had the time to mess with it yet .

So far the 64 bit vista isnt even close to being ready and its miles behind the 32bit verson IMO .

The industry is trying to boat call software deleopement.
Running any 64 bit version of a OS is gonna get you no where but fustration.
64 bit pc world is here or the base is now we have to wait for the rest of the industry to catch up.

It works, but there are no OS plugins, Java, flash ,etc, etc dont work yet. But its coming

Well I'm an IT manager/sysadmin for a company, and I can guarantee we won't touch Vista until 2008 at the EARLIEST.  The hardware required just to run the OS is ridiculous.

The question gets posted every once in a while. The short answer is that it would be cheaper for the company to buy people PCs than to port the game.

It's a small company with a dedicated product in a niche market. Boot Camp moots the Apple part now anyway. You probably couldn't get enough potential Linux users together to play a game of basketball.

And all those Linux users would have adifferent distro, with a different implementation of the graphics, sound, and input systems.

I like Linux, but it is nowhere near ready to be a platform for 3D games.  Until all the distros can get together and establish a common API for graphics, sound, and input, games will always be a hit-n-miss proposition.
