Disappearing Act
« on: July 15, 2000, 11:42:00 PM »
I've recently started having a problem just after entering AH.  After starting the game as normal and getting the initial clipboard, clicking on H2H or any other tab causes the game to dissapear.  Open it again, and the same thing happens.  The only way to resolve it appears to be uninstalling the game and reinstalling, which of course requires that I reset everything.

Has anyone else seen a problem like this.  Or does it sound like my system is possessed?  Thanks

Tbone,
I have this happen to me too on occasion but all it does is minimize to my task bar. Is that what is happening to you? Or is it really dissapearing? Also a little information on the computer and operating system you are running it on could help.

Well, I have seen what appeared to be a minimization to the taskbar.  But when I click to maximize, the taskbar tab simply disappears too.  But that has only happened a couple of times.  Primarily it simply behaves as if the program has been closed.  I'm really at a loss as to why this started a couple of days ago.

As for the system, it's a Dell XPS R400.  It has a PII w/ 64 meg/RAM.  I've got a V3/3000 video card in it.

Thanks for the reply - and any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated.

After what you mentioned about the program minimizing, I went to take a look to see if anything unusual is happening.  Here's what I saw:  When the program opens, the clipboard shows up as normal, but I noticed the quit tab flicker, or look shaded as if it was being hit.  Rolling the cursor over any tabs, on-line, off, H2H, all have no effect - but rolling over quit and it looks shaded, as if depressed.  Also, a single click anywhere on the page will close the program as if you'd hit quit.

Thanks again....

Hi Razor.  I recognize your and several of those call signs from AW3.  However, I flew under a different call then and later in EAW, SDOE, and AH beta.

Very much agree that this is a "real" sim!! Looking forward to getting in the air regualarly with a new group.

Pyro -

The closest thing to a system change was installing a r/w/rw CD ROM.  I don't think that could have been the cause, but it's really not relavent now because I think I've solved the problem.  A couple of days ago, I deleted everything I could find in my system associated with AH - and I mean everything.  I did a fresh dwnld and installed.  It's worked like a charm so far.

I appreciate your willingness to look into it!  Hope to meet you at the con - I'm just south of Dallas!

I am having the same situation with AH going to the desktop taskbar on login.

My bet is the new Roger Wilco version that I just downloaded or how AH is enabling RW.

Pyro any ideas?
