Hmmm.  I don't understand this thread.  I think the hog cockpits are beautiful.  I don't have any trouble seeing the instruments.  I'm a TIR user.  Maybe that's the difference??  It took me a while to find the trim indicators but other than that, I love em.  I'm looking forward to all the cockpits being cleaned up like this.

I think they look good.  Only problem I have is I cant see the lower ammo counter.  This wouldn't be much of a problem except that is the one that shows bombs and when I'm in the middle of a fight I like to glance to make certain that I have changed back to guns.. I really don't wish to take my hands off the controlls at times like this to mess with views...

 Trying to figure out what button to change on my X52 to map forward down to.... :)

  Oh at least you can see well in the F4U-4 I love that thing even more now than I did befor.

Flayed:

I set my throttle mini-mouse to button emulation, and then

up ---> page up (to raise seat)
forward -->  move seat forward
back ---> move seat back
down ---> look down modifier

I use the first three to move views around framing while HOTAS, and the downward look to see lower gauges -- but also to scan for enemies from external view while I'm buffing .  Since I dont ahve a button set to page down, I just use the view hat to reset all the siding  to a standard view direction.

PS Love my 52!

Well after messing about I turned my small rotary into bands and set it up to look forward down and page down... Works well. :)   Then I discovered that hunching down in your seat dosn't seem to effect the gun sight as long as you keep it on the glass.. Never realised this befor because I never had a need to change from default height in the seat LOL. So as long as ya don't mind siting lower in your seat, gauge and ammo count visibility is fine :)

Anyone notice the trim tabs, specifically aileron, that move around? :)

Your view settings didn't change with the new cockpits. Some people may have elevated their view in the old cockpits to move the gunsight and try to sneak a peek over the nose. Hit the Home button, and I think you'll see the gauges like in whels' photo.

The views are very nice, you just need to sit down and customize them with the arrow keys, and then save them with F10.

Interesting Whels, that is more than I got in the default view, what resolution are you running at?

The bottom of the speed dial is chopped off on my screen when I flew it, I tapped pagedwn and I could see enough of it to check airspeed at a glance while still giving me suitible view over the nose.

It's easy enough to adjust your view to see the instruments....

Resolution is set at 1280 x 1024.

Another thing to consider when adjusting your head position is that you actually have two forward views and each one can be mapped to a separate head position.  One forward view is the default view that you get when no view keys are being used and the other is when you press the forward view key.  So you can map one of your forward views with a high viewing position to give you a good view for gunnery and map the other forward view in a lower position to give you a good view of the instruments.
