325th AAR Frame 3
« on: December 02, 2006, 05:39:54 PM »
325th had deception mission and escort mission for frame 3 in 51's.

Other squads: C-Hawks (bombers) / 56th (jugs).

to Dramo, Great mission and plan.

325th launched A73 at H+5  325th's mission was to escort bombers 50miles in and then turn off and start setting off radar rings in the north as we made a direct line attack to our target A4.  Our technique was to bring the sqaud in close to the radar ring then send in 2 AC to trip it and then back off after 30 to 45 seconds.  The illision I wanted was that a large formation was attempting to travel around the northern bases but kept tripping the radar rings.  We continued tripping radar rings off and on for 20 minutes before moving on to A4.

Our method seemed to work to me as the 56th Fighter group was near by and attacked a squad of 190's that seemed to come over to investigate.

Once at A4 we provided a high level cap incase of enemy intervention, which did not happen.  There was a big furball at A4 that lasted about 15 minutes but was all low and was no threat to the bombers so the 325th did not engage as this was a escort mission and not a furballing mission.

I was shocked to watch our bombers run back and forth across the target multible times dropping bombs.  All i can say is that you C-Hawks were lucky that the Allies had control of the airspace over A4.

325th stayed on station at A4 until the last bombers pulled off THEKENDO being the last.  City at A4 was at 20% and seeing enemy fighters the 325th dove in on the town at A4 and finished off the last 20% of the town.  As we left the map indicated 0%.

Fuel conservation was our problem on the way back we lost 2 AC (bingo fuel).  325th landed at A76.  I was the last one down at H+115.

Not alot of action in the air around us and the damage to the town at the end being the only targets we engaged.

I would like to know from the LW side if the deception tactics in the north pulled any squads out of sector and forced a bad fight to you?  Or kept you from engaging our bombers.
