Guys, I was running a diamond viper 550. My PC specs are--

PIII 500
17" TRINITRON
15GB HARDRIVE
STANDARD MODEM
SB LIVE

runningf in 1024x768 32 bit color my FR really suffered. looking forward in a clear sky I woulget anywhere frome 20-27 FPS.

Shelled out $108 for the NVIDEA and now I get 60-70 FPS in the same mode and the big difference is the overall display. the detail is 10 times better. I am really happy at the smoothness of gameplay too-- not one lockup yet. Now will this work for all of us---? I doubt it But I thought everyone interested would like to hear it.

pricewatch  www.pricewatch.com

has the visiontek card for $108.

Titanium, you have an asus a7v!?!  I have a question for you then.  I'm putting together a system with one now for myself.  Did you need to use a PCI video card to get it to POST for the first time?  I've heard that this board will not POST until you enable AGP in the bios, which would require a PCI video card to allow you to access it.  I only have a Viper v770 ultra and NOT ONE computer store in Eugene has an old PCI video card left.

Bloom
Had prob after i got into AH  caused lockups, Remedy was to set soundcard pci slot different to my agp, They were sharing IRQ 11, Now  AGP IRQ 11 and S/card slot IRQ 5 also 9 on my asus a7v works good for S/card

Glad to hear all is well.
Now, a questio for you...
One of my computers has a Viper 550 in it. When I play AH, I get lots of interference between the propeller arc and my view through it. Did you have this problem when you used a Viper 550? If not, do you know how to get rid of it?
regards,

not sure if you mean the prop animation that is supposed to be there. I never had any problems like that. I just couldn't run the HiRes texture and get good Framerates with my V550. Good lucki to you papafox
