Thanks Major Biggles, I will definitely give it a try. The website seems to kinda discourage you from DL'ing these and I didn't want to mess up.

I run an:
Athlon 64 FX55
2 gigs pc3200 RAM
Raptors in Raid
Nvidia 7900GT
784 up 8mb dn cable connection

Thanks again,

I think your a nice candidate for my next kill.. Sounds like your learning curve will be shorter than most new people. You will enjoy the old farts that become closer to you each year. Some of us like a couple that have posted on this board we are all addicted. Not because of the graphics our spawn camping like other games, what we love is the 1v1..

Call me when your heart is racing and your are palms sweating.

Nothing like fighting someone better than you and winning. A guy that has killed you 100's of times made you look stupid. He drops down from 10k you reverse scissor and role. You have one chance before you plow your E just hanging their at 80mph. Squeeze that trigger and let it fly..

Most of these encounter end with a one channel 200..

FUN

Back in the old Air Warrior days (well, I guess my palm did sweat and my heart did race) but my leg shook uncontrollably.  Kinda like that dog getting petted just the right way.  Glad I got past that.  Whew.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Yes, you should be able to run AH full eyecandy on that one.

Just one note: when using the high res pack and ALL skins (ie you download them all through game or from homepage), Skuzzy says they need 2.5 GB of ram to preload.

My setup is one step down from yours and im also running 1024 textures and full detail. I preload the textures into RAM, but not the skins. Works great for me (I only get the very odd stutter upon encountering a skin in game that i hadnt previously met yet - but thats nothing really disturbing).

Another Question guys-

I get this crazy background buzz when in the tower or the hangar outa my speakers. It goes away when I actually get in the plane to start the motor.

Anybody had this b4? Or does anyone know which sound it is so I can turn it off/down?

Finally flew a little last night (offline) with most of my controllers setup, still tweaking the sensitivities but at least I am making progress. I kept getting my axis turned around (didn't invert them). OMG it was hilarous, I haven't had to set up a stick for a few years (CH stuff) you should have seen the grown man screaming at the screen!! LOL

BTW thanks for the info for the high resolution textures, It looks waay better!

Anyway, Thanks again guys, if you know what the sound is I would appreciate the help!

What do you have your sound setup as in Windows? Desktop speakers or a surround sound type?

I don't think this will help that but it is recommended your sound hardware acceleration be set to 3/4, standard acceleration and not full.
That can be changed easily via DxDiag when you run it.

Thanks Fuzeman, for the reply

Set up speakers as desktop, acceleration at 3/4. I read it that way in the help files. I think I may have a soundcard setting possibly one of the imput settings wrong.
I have an Hercules fortissimo in right now because I was using my audigy 2 in something else. But it has been this way for a while an it works good in other games. I think I am just having an imput setting problem or i need to turn down base ack or some other ingame sound. Its weird.

The only time I get a buzz is when GV's are in the area and running.

In the offline area, there are 3 or 4 tanks sitting around the tarmac, I think that is what I am hearing, could that be it?

Couple of tips before you start.

Need to turn off your stall limiter from the start!!!

Turn down your engine noise and turn up exterior sounds..

Fly good turn fights like the nikki with lots of ammo.. Our the tyhpie for bzn and dont turn! Stay away from 50's caliber planes like the pony and f4u's for a couple of months they will just make you frustrated.

Get into a squad most of the squad have some players that can really help you out..

TA TA TA....

Have fun is what its all about..
