Pricing plans

This is actually a follow-up on the point raised by Glars in "the Gripe..." topic.

HT - you guys need to consider implementing hourly charges as well as current flat rate plan. I agree with Glars 100% - I like AH and all that but it's very difficult to justify $30/month when I might not be able to even fly taht many hours.

Fair enough - if one goes over $30 on hourly charges in any one month than it's one's own problem. He/she would have to decide whether to stick to hourly plan or switch to flat rate. You may even implement minimum period with a pricing plan to simplify admin side but if you don't do something you'll be loosing customers instead of getting extra revenue.

It's not £15 - that was 8 years ago. It's £19/month or about the same I pay for an hour in the air.

And no, I can't justify effectively throwing money away. If you have some you don't know what to do with - send me a cheque. I still need 65 hours P1 until I can start an AFI course  .

p.s. And yes, in some countries it's a monthly income... But let's not go there.

I'd be ok with this current pricing scheme too if it drew in a few more people during asia/pacific time...unfortunately it isn't.  I can only think that price is keeping people away coz there were a lot of people playing in free beta days.

I think some people genuinely can't afford $30us/month on top of ISP costs.  I for one am spending $100au/month total - that's a lot when you have other expenses.  I don't mind paying this but just wish we had a more affordable pricing scheme for others too...especially in my timezone.

Tonight there were 16 people online when I logged off, 12:30am, and that was on the increase!  How many would stick around if that's as much as you saw for your 2 week trial under the current pricing scheme?

Ex.

The Problem resides not with the rice that HTC charges us, but what the ISP or Telco's charge us....
1 p a minute (BT in UK) after 18:00 and 6p /minute before that...

You'll tell me that being connected on AH costs a lot because I have to be connected to fly (& shoot)...maybe, but to tell you the truth, If I'm not on AH, I'd be somewhere else...so

FYI :  200£ + BT Bill/ month just on my ISP +
190 £ for CH product Gear....(that still didn't arrive or is not working :/ )

AND YOU BUG POEPLE FOR 30 $ ????????????

PLease,do a search on Excite or Yahoo on Consumerism/Capitalism, etc...

This Topic makes me sick : YOU WANT TO USE A PRODUCT, YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT , THAT'S NORMAL !

When it is CHEAP OR FREE, you will have 99.9% chances that it's cr***p !

HTC  already has  stated that they  have no plans for  an alternate  pricing plan. If you don't pay it, someone  else will  come along that IS willing to pay it.  So, I think you need to weigh  your priorieties.  If the shoe don't fit, don't wear it.

Look pal - why bother writing at all if you can't even get a simple concept that many people don't want just cheap items - they just don't want to pay for what they are not going to use?

Where was it I'd said I wanted it cheap? We've been through this in WB years ago with dolps from AW/FA popping in now and then on AGW advocating flat rate. Try using other than Yahoo souces for info on capitalism - you may find out that one has to be flexible to survive.

HTC have limited manpower to address all the issues and may be (understandably)simply unable to maintain multiple price plans - fair enough. But they are (will be) loosing revenue because of the inflexibility of flat rate and that's a fact.

p.s. My CH setup cost me more than 190 quid and has worked like a charm for the last 3-odd years - I guess you get what you pay for, right ?

p.p.s. Duck - in the UK you can buy a share in a plane - all you pay then is fuel .

p.p.s. Rip - I don't want to go barefoot - I (silly me) just want the shoes of my size and am prepared to pay for it .

there are alot of player who quit AH because of no other price  choice. id still be flying
if i had another choice than flat $30/month.
but as it is now, HTC rather have 75 people
@ 30 than 150 people with a few @ less than $30, and those few might would go $30 at a later date. but by not having a wider choice
u effectively tell them u dont want thier money, and their $30 may never come back.

during the 1st 2 weeks of 1.0 u had an avg of 95 people playing all  the time,
now the most i see at the peak hours is 80.
and to think, maybe at $10/5hour rate u might
be over the 100 mark easy.

Hotdog who lives in Newzealand, said $30us is $75 NZ whew

ROTFLMAO!!!  HT...Can I sign up for THAT plan?  Please????

I find this topic so hilarious.  I remember numerous un-dying threads on AGW with just the exact OPPOSITE argument.  "If ICI (imol, ien, etc) would just charge a flat rate they'd have so many more customers, with so much more revenue...blah, blah, blah"  It's amazing.

Signing off before my mouth starts spewing forth flammable gases.
