*Organized Squad Needed*
« on: January 07, 2007, 01:21:45 PM »
Not another "LF Squad!" post!

But yes, it is true. Yet another one. Maybe there is a squad out there that can fit my criteria?

I am really interested in finding a Fighter squad that has a passion/goal/etc for escorting and/or intercepting bomber formations.

I don't know what it is, but I just really enjoy the teamwork aspect of flying with a group of guys, trying to protect our own bomber formation, or go hunting for some to take out. I guess I just like seeing diff aspects of the game?

Last time I played AH was before the release of AHII. I flew under the name of Hayze, later BTHayze, and flew with the Blue Thunder squadron. We flew navy planes, primarily F4U's. However later in the stage, a couple of us flew F6F's as high alt cover... and again, something about escorting/intercepting is just.... awesome.

Anyhow, I am willing to learn on any plane and conform to any standards a squad sets. All I ask is that it be an active squad, one with mature players (preferably 18+ but not required), etc.

Any suggestions?

Important Addendum
I'm not too fond of Furballs. I find them too chaotic and just... I don't know. Fuzzy?lol.

I'm much more of a land grab, organized missions with definite goals type of guy. Nothing beats Squad Nights with actual missions, not just "ffa furballlllllllll!"

Also, good etiquitte is also important. Each member of a squad reflects the entire squad. I'm not too keen on the "zomg, thats BS! W/E NOOB, u HACK/CHEAT". Looking for GG's with class-act, respectable people :)

I guess I may be picky..but.. I know what I like :)

VMF-251 is a Rook F4U-1A squadron. We meet up tonight at 7pm CST. Squad nights are Wednesdays for training/practice purposes, Sundays for the real thing. Start time is generally between 6-8pm Central US time (7-9pm Eastern) depending on my work schedule.

We're a pretty young squad and still putting everything together, so haven't done much with it yet but eventually we're going to start running more missions and, ideally, coordinating with other squads. Our focus is intended to be on cooperative tactics in an engagement, including wingman tactics and formation flight.

We meet in the chat Lobby then head into one of the LW arenas from there, so look us up if you're interested.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

We don't often to bomber interception, but we've specialized in bomber escort for five years in WWIIOL and now in Aces High flying with the 550th BG.

This is an AAR from the type of mission we strive to achieve.

Jan-05: The first fully operational mission of the 78th and the 550th turned out to be a whopper! Flying deep into enemy territory the group fended off some minor attacks before the drop. But after the drop the group fought a 30 minute running battle to get home. It was intense and only because of the great skill and restraint shown by the escort pilots of the 83rd F/S did everyone make it back. Two bombers were lost, several were shot up, and the fighters either landed on fumes or dead-sticked in, but everyone made it. After the mission the group headed to the O-Club for a well deserved round of drinks!

Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.
