Have you seen the pic of the Chevy SUV hanging over the edge of the cliff, with the boat and hitch preventing it from going over?  Now THAT was scarey...tried finding the picture but I can't..

Well, I can't link that picture (the boat hitch one) because its on a site that has an obscene word in the URL...

But, you can figure it out below and just adjust your browser to restore the word...

Where was the picture taken?

It looks like central Oregon...

Thanks. That's the pic. It tells a story of how important safety chains are on a tow vehicle:

Actually it tells how important it is to watch where you're driving. :aok

In the first picture look at the ending position of the truck, now look at the barrier damage and then imagine how the truck hit the barrier and somehow launched over the gap where the pipe is coming to rest parked on the edge!!

theres one other post on the top barrier with damage but the lower barrier doesn't seem to show any collision damage at all, which suggests to me the truck flying over rather than sliding along the verge.

hope the passengers were ok though.

Yeah the van driver was extremely lucky while being unlucky. The position of the rescue workers on the edge looks pretty dangerous too, they're actually standing on a ledge that could crack under them, especially with the van hitting it just earlier.

There's a small car worth of debris at the bottom of that cliff... Looks like something went all the way over.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

I was looking at the same, but it's actually debris from the stormwater tunnel above it. Most likely that is.

Considering that it could have been a blown front tire that lead to the accident, I'm not sure we can make that statement.  I've had the pleasure (tongue in cheek) of a front tire blow out and you basically have very little control.
