I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

I've finished the American Airlines DC-3 skin. It can be downloaded at the Aces High Skin Department.

Thanks greebo, should I print credit out as "Greebo" or something else. And macleod, for being the first skin you ever made, that's a heck of a lot of detail, nice work!

Thanks guys, glad you like the skin. It made a nice change of pace from military skins. I'm thinking of doing a Reno racing Corsair next, just for fun.

Macleod, you might want to move the fuselage insignia down a few pixels, to avoid the banding on top of the fuselage.

Greebo will be fine on the credits thanks Denholm.

Its a bit difficult to see enough detail macleod. Try zooming in on the aircraft before you take the screenshots. Then in your graphics program crop the image to reduce its size, like I've done with mine.

Having said that, I can see a few things that don't look quite right. The black leading edge on the wing looks very ragged and possibly a bit too wide. Also the orange wingtips seem a bit fuzzy where they meet the grey.

The D Day stripes below the fuselage, are these correct or a legacy from the default skin?

You could also add a shadow effect behind the engine cowl flaps to give them a 3D effect.

Hey guys, being the guy that I am, I barely know anything about skinning. I've made a skin or two before, but I just don't know enough to make a skin with noticeable details.

Someone popped into my arena about a week ago (RAIDER14) and asked me if I finished my new airport terrain yet. It's a trend that's been around a while in the 8-Player community. Someone hosts the room, and they play virtual airport, except with WWII planes.

Anyways, I've been working on my airport terrain and Raider wanted to know if I had completed it yet. After I told him, "No, I haven't" he asked me if I could make an American Airlines skin for the C-47. Of course hearing this I laughed at the idea. Yet it did seem rather interesting. Although AA was not around during that time period, people would have more fun flying around in a bird that has an airline skin on it.

So I'm wondering if anyone here could make an American Airlines skin for the C-47. Full credit would go to you in the terrain. Here are some pictures for you to see half of the project:

i know rhis quote is old but Denholm, mind hosting that when ur donw with that map:D

yea and the host can make alot of fog or wind to make flying even harder..and frendly collisions on :D

this would be a cool design to attempt to put on the C-47:D

Just so you guys know, yes, I will be hosting this terrain when it is completed. I host under these types of settings:

Views: Unlimited viewing possibility
Fog Visibility Miles: 2, this makes it difficult to see the end of the airstrip from one end. I know, I've tried it. This makes you more reliable on the ATC to control ground traffic to prevent collisions.

Windage: 0K-6K 10 MPH. 6K-10K 20 MPH. 10K and onwards: 50 MPH.

So, It's very challenging landing, especially with that wind and fog, and that's why I'm going to be painting traffic patterns all the way to the runway on your clipboard maps. That way you will be able to fly right up to the runways.
