For those interested in board games, an interesting looking one is in the works:

It's based on the RAF night bombing campaign in WWII. It seems to be fairly abstract but it looks like it could be fun.

On another interesting note, Aces High II is advertised at Board Game Geek, the site where the above game is listed.

What a horrible game. Sequel will be B-29s torching Japan? Who would ever want to play either side?

Errr...you do play AH, don't you?

The last time I checked, you could bomb towns and cities in AH. They even seemed to burn quite nicely.

You're right.

If I'm limited to conventional incendiary attacks and am not allowed to drop the Bomb, I'm not coming near it.

Here's another WW1 / WW2 card game.

Wings of War

I have this one and it's really good.

Played like tabletop Warhammer.

There's a WW2 expansion coming for it too.

On a serious note - I doubt there will be a B-29 fire bombing sequel as there doesn't seem to be much of a "game" in that campaign.

However, I could be wrong. After all, if someone can make a game based on the Japanese attempt to set fire to the US's forests with incendiary bombs on balloons, I suppose anything is possible.

One might be better off with the original AH Midway. Simpler and faster. Although, of course, more abstract (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

These are real games.

Flat top is out of print but copies can still be found on eBay. It supposedly the definitive game of WWII carrier operations but requires a lot of table space and time to play. However, a VASSAL module or equivalent may exist, allowing you to play with an opponent electronically.

Wings of War is published by Fantasy Flight Games. The WWI version is available but I believe the WWII version has yet to be released.

Duel in the Dark (the WWII night bombing game) is in production and will probably be out this summer.

Aces High has a full range of combat simulation options, and that's a long way from exclusively focusing on city busting by whatever means. Note that for whatever reasons Aces High does not simulate incendiaries, napalm, or nukes.

If real life, if it's total war, so be it. In cyber life, anything goes -- can destroy whole worlds if we want.

But I still think the idea of having one game that is exclusively about fire bombing cities is an offensive concept in the worst sense of that word.

In cyber life, destroying whole worlds is okay.

But fire bombing a city in a board game is not?

What about fire bombing a city in cyber life? Since destroying whole worlds is fine, a reduction in scale of destruction should also be okay, right?

As an aside, would you consider any wargame based on the Eastern Front in WWII to be offensive?
