CH Pro Pedal Use Question
« on: June 13, 2000, 09:20:00 AM »
A topic in the 'general' newsgroup raised this question for me and that is can the Pro Pedals work as the rudder [b[AND[/b] also  as  left and right brakes with the toe action? Or is it either one or the other?   I've always thought they could be used as the rudder pedals for aicraft but then toss the switch on the pedal base and the left and right foot pads can be used as the brake or accelerator for an automobile .

Does anyone who has them using them as both rudders and brakes at the same time??

Indian I think the are but as key presses aren't they? Space bar = full brake application or the "C" and "V" keys for individual left and right wheel brakes.   Do the Pro Pedals allow both the horizontal swing left and right for the rudder action and at the same time press allow  the pedals to be pressed for left and right brake action? They don't work that way on my setup now but I'm wondering of that is a function of my Speedkeys (which I've never seen the rudder pedals listed for programming) or more lilkely an AH stick set-up?  Thanks for any and all input !

This doesnt bring much to the conversation. But here is the first words I remember on the toe braking

Aces High's in-game joystick configuration menu will see both of these devices, allowing the user to configure them accordingly. We have every button and axis on this setup mapped to a function in Aces High, including the toe brakes on the Pro Pedals, and we have to say that this functionality is a HOTAS programmers dream come true.

This is from a combat sim article USB Controlers

Let's hunt this guy down, and get him to tell all

Toss what switch on the pedal base?

I have a set of CH USB Pro Pedals and there isn't any switch on the base to switch to anything?

I guess on the USB version there is no switch because you DO get the rudder action or toe presses. All fous axis as the CH web site sayd. On the standard Pro Pedals there is a small black switch, on the top, between the pedals that you use select what emulation the pedals will have.

 USB huh?

 Lucky bastidge!

The 'old' Pro Pedals are supposed to work in games that support toe brakes, all though I do not know which ones. No, you don't have to 'throw' the switch, it is for changing from rudder control to brake/accelerator car control. Have you tried plugging in the second plug into a game port? I believe you have to have at least 2 gameports and plug in the second plug at the end of the cord to get the toe brakes to work as toe brakes, otherwise they are just brake/accelarator pedals when the switch is used. There is some info on them on CH's webpage or in the Pro Pedal Help files, I can't remember where I have seen it.

Thanks Tshred. The rudder cables are so buried I'd forgotten there was an extra hanging off. I'll pull the manul out and check on that when I get home.

Sheesh. If it was that simple all along...
I hope!

No, that won't happen until we support analog brakes.  It is planned though.
