Yep, forgot that one off my list too!  I didn't think the re-make was all that bad but the original was much better.

Can't beat 12 O'Clock High for the feel of command.

Ever realize that the movie never left the ground, but they still got you to feel the tension and terror of the air war?

That's the difference between special effects, and effectiveness....

It's a lot better than "Always".

I'll have to check that one out.  Thanks!

Also Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Has anybody besides us Arizonians ( it was fimed here. . .) ever seen "Cloud Dancer"?

It has the guy from Kung-Fu, (david or Kieth) Carradine as a stunt pilot.  The plot is a little strange - something about he doesn't want to have kids 'cuz he's shootin' diseased bullets or soemthing, but the acrobatic scenes are great.  If you like Pitts Specials and civilian aerobatic flying, you'll probably enjoy the flying sequences in this one.

Here's one I didn't see mentioned:

The Bridges at Toko-Ri   -- William Holden

A bit of a dark story but great footage of F9F Panthers.   Great airplane!
The Hay Street Boys

I just saw Flyboys last weekend.  I didn't think it was that good.  OK but not great.  Maybe my expectations were just too high.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

in the end the comaner had to lead the squadron in a beat up striped out b17 called  CAN DOO.

How about The Great Waldo Pepper.

Lets also not forget Firefox with Clint Eastwood, remember the jet that flew on pilot 'thoughts'

I especially liked the part where he said

"I'm now going to fly as low as possible to save fuel" :aok
