calling for the resignation of the Inspector General

Congressman Culberson Statement on Agents Ramos and Compean

Congressman Culberson issued the following statement regarding Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean following yesterday’s House Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee hearing with Department of Homeland Security Inspector General Richard Skinner.

"Richard Skinner admitted yesterday under oath that his top deputies gave Members of Congress false information painting Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean as rogue cops who were not in fear for their lives and who were 'out to shoot Mexicans'.

"In my opinion, this false information was given to Members of Congress to throw us off the scent and cover-up what appears to be an unjust criminal prosecution of two U.S. law enforcement officers whose job was protecting our country’s borders from criminals and terrorists.

"Today I am calling for the resignation of the Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security and the investigators who lied to us.

"So far it looks to me like Agents Ramos and Compean may not have followed proper procedure following the shooting, which at most should have resulted in their suspension from the force, but not criminal prosecution.

"At a time when Homeland Security has left our borders largely undefended and deployed national guardsman whose ‘standard operating procedure’ is ‘to retreat’ when confronted with armed criminals, the unjust prosecution of Agents Ramos and Compean weakens border security by discouraging all U.S. law enforcement officers from drawing their weapons in self-defense or in the defense of our nation.

"Our highest priority in the War on Terror is to secure our borders. These two agents need to be pardoned and we need to reassure our brave Border Patrol agents and law enforcement officers that we support them and want them to feel free to use their best judgment and whatever force they think is necessary to protect America."

RAMOS AND COMPEAN HAVE BEEN POLITICAL PRISONERS OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR 22 DAYS!

They’re in prison far away from their families, and  now  the families have learned that Ramos has been beaten in jail.......

    This sucks !

Why these two haven been pardoned yet is nothing short of a travesty.

They shouldnt be in prison
But rather they should be hailed as heros
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty

I just read that they lied on their reports.

Also, you guys in the gun crowd would know, isn't it considered bad form to shoot at someone when they're running away from your country back into their country?

Heroes, in my book tell the truth.

Also, in the day of instant gossip, I could have the facts wrong.

I think we should bust them out of prison.  We are going to need some weapons experts who won't think twice about killing because they are a bit bitter at life (and desensitized to violence from playing AH too much).  I think we will have more than enough to choose from in the O'club.

Secondly, we are going to need some pilots.  Were going to need a young squirrely pilot, who doesn't really act normal but who can fly low and land anywhere.  Golfer- Check!.  But then we are going to need an old, experienced pilot.  Maybe one who is a few pounds overweight and spends too much time on the computer and not enough flying.  Eagl- Check!  But then we might need one more.  Someone who knows a little bit about aerobatics, and who has some helicopter training.  It would be especially good if he wrote in a mangled, cryptic manner.  Hitech- Check!

Finally, we are going to need the rescue team.  First thing we are going to need is armored suits.  Someone who has experience with robot suits, who isn't afraid of death (and shows it by flying a taildragger drunk but still managing to land it after a few attempts).  Chairboy- Check!  We are going to need a damn good scuba diver, someone who can come up through the water resovoir, navigate in pitch black, and be ready to blast his way in and out.  It would be especially good if this person was an expert in biology, he could act as a medic and general knowledge resource.  Hmmm, who could that be?  Aquashrimp- Check!  The rest of you guys can come too, to act as our bullet shields incase chairboys robot suits dont stop rifle bullets.

you'll also need someone to "take one for the team" and hit any possible lonely, not so attractive female guards that may be there.... ;)

This reminds me of the theif that broke an arm falling through the roof of a house he was trying to burglarize and then sued the owners......but in addition the owners would go to jail.

The Department of Homeland Security sent an investigator to Mexico to offer the smuggler, Aldrete-Davila, full immunity in exchange for his testimony against the agents. Now, Aldrete-Davila is suing the U.S. Border Patrol for $5 million for allegedly violating his civil rights.

This whole story just wreaks!  I don't think these two agents are angels/heroes/saints or anything but I don't think a drug smugler should get immunity for testimony and then be allowed to sue the govt for civil rights violation?  What rights?

Sigh...

How many illegals commit acts of violence in the US and get away with it?

Shame...should be more random acts of violence against drug dealers and human cargo smugglers on the border.
