That's the reason why most of the time an attacking GV makes the town flash several minutes before base starts flashing.

If you look into the Arena Settings, you will find different "warning ranges" for boats, vehicles, bombers & fighter.

Standard value for planes is about 63000, for GVs it's around 15000.

What Lusche says is correct, depending on how far spwn is from base/town. If it's a spawn that is further away from base then the town would start flashing before the base but not neccessarily when you first spawn in, there seems to be a gaged distance that the gv will set off flashing of a base or town and it is a shorter distance then that of a aircraft.

Depending on how far town is from base and the location of Spawn point to said town and base, the GV could get all the way to town without making the base itself flash (only the town). At least that has been my observations, right, wrong or indifferent.

Rgr, I was going to look up those later tonight. Thanks for saving me that trouble. Thats about 1/4th of radar range (3 miles) warning for GVs.

By dar I mean the feild radar tower

Unless they have changed it I've always noticed that when feild dar goes down. The base itself wont flash, but the little sqare town Icon will

WOW!

This is statring to answer alot of freaky situations I have seen where it's either getting attacked and NOT blinking...or BLINKING, and there's nobody there.

Well done observant gents and our learned German Comrades!

it doesnt not matter if field DAR is up or down, if u get within a certain
range of the base it will blink, range is dependant on what ur in.

No. unless they have changed it . If feild dar is down, the town will blink but not the feild

I used to do that so I could attack a feild in a GV and not be noticed unless someone was taking off or paying real close attention to the map

Flashing....

Town flashes upon GV approach...base does not... unless gv approaches too close to base...then base will flash also.

Whether Airfield Radar is up or down has no effect upon GV approach.

The Dar being up or down has no effect on the base flashing when a GV or a plane gets within it's respective range (or trigger point) of the base. The base will still flash if the dar is down.

Many times I have seen a town flashing and up a plane to see what is causing it. I overfly the town and surrounding area...........and find nothing. You don't know if you should disregarded a flashing town or not.

Does the town dar tower now have anything to do with it?  Or is it still just eye candy?

Happened in LW Orange last night on the Knight side to me.
Vbase and a Air Base in the middle of the map are flashing. Dar's up at both fields and I go to investigate. NADA... I asked squadies to check their maps and report if they have the same. About half said.. Nope not flashing.. half said yep flashing here... Non flashers were the late comers to the arena I might add.
