Flyingmule's camo is almost laughable.

That being so, somebody was attempting a similar scheme, but with realistic whitewash patterns.

[EDIT: I wonder how they're doing on that... haven't seen any progress in a while...]

As for the yellow leading edges, I'd be skepticle to the point of disbelief until you find real evidence to prove it existed.

Seems the majority of IL2 skin downloads are fabricated, out-and-out made up, or just plain inaccurate. Some are historical, but others are just fantasy. They don't have the same rules AH has, and as such you really can't trust them as "historical".

Well, im not sure. YOU yourself (At least I think it was you, its been over a month...) did a JG3 (I think) Bf-109E that was even more gharishly yellow... I love it! But I think it proves there WERE planes painted like that. Although I agree with you 100%. Treat il-2 like wikipedia.

There were planes with yellow, yes. Yellow noses were quite common.

However, large portions of the leading edge? Upper wingtips? Not likely.

Also, the whitewash would probably have covered the yellow nose as well (not sure on this one, but most whitewashed planes have the entire thing white).

So the over-all package? Unless you have other evidence, I cry foul.

[EDIT: I mean "you all" in a general term, I'm not singling anyone out.]

P.S. I changed the tone of the yellow and resubmitted it (but never got a response) so hopefully it won't be so garish anymore.

DONT!!! I like it garish! Thats why I use it! And by the way, your aircraft had more yellow than this one. Yellow tail, (THE WHOLE TAIL) yellow wing tips and yellow nose. This is just distributed more. I do agree about that little bit of white, it looks wrong.

Heh, I had a book reference that showed the entire tail as yellow for fall of 1940 for 2/JG3. :D I don't think the skinner of that IL2 skin had any such reference :)

Don't worry. I think the old yellow "washed out" too much, and strained the eyes. The new yellow has a bit more orange in it (just a tint) and is smoother on the eyes.

I think we have enough yellow for now, I am more interested in the white aspect of it.  Would you consider something like this?

The war time picture can be found here:

http://www.jg54greenhearts.com/IJG54Me1.htm

Its a G2 or F4 by the looks of it.

I am almost certain there had to be some element of white for those 109s in the eastern front. No?

That would make a sweet skin, Emu. That and the black tulip might get me out of a 38 every once in a while.

Emu: we used to have that 190 skin, before the upgrade. I thought we had it on at least one of the 190A/Fs, but I'd have to go check.

As for the white 109s, there were many many 109s that received this winter camouflage. I'm definitely for a skin of one. Like I said, I think somebody is working on an F-4 with this white camo, but I've not seen a progress report in a while.

I might do one for the G-2 someday. Probably not any time soon though (busy with other things)

Emu I dont know if you were looking for info about that skin or wanted someone to do it. I did that skin before the new 109s and started doing it again but I didnt have the internet for some time and about 3 months ago when I knew I would get the internet back I started working on all my old skins and some new ones and that was one of my first. Im about 95% done but if you are done with yours I will stop and wont submit it.

Man that 109 on the snow covered runway looks so amazing.

Would love to line up in my tiffy (or other British plane) and strafe the crap out of it.  I bet the explosion with metal and flame everywhere would look real nice too.

Or maybe a well placed rocket vulch right into the cockpit.

Wow, TK lives...

Anyways, TK, did you find any supporting evidence for that much yellow showing thorugh a whitewash?

And what about yellow leading edges? Fairly unprecedented in LW aircraft.

I think it's just some IL2 imagination skin, personally.
