A new update, I have DLd and installed all of the latest Windows ME patches form microsoft, game still flickers off line. Somewhere along the line I DLd the latest Earthlink version as well with no effect.

The first thing I noticed is that you have ACPI turned on. Turn it off and reinstall.

Secondly, you do not want your video card sharing with anything else, except *possibly* another video card.

You should be able to free up some interrupts by disabling your parallel port, unused serial port and mouse port if you use a USB printer and USB mouse.

Is your modem a Winmodem? If so junk it - they're cr*p - and get yourself an external modem. Why external? Because you can better see what's going on, and if the modem jams, you can reset it without resetting the computer.  And make it USB

No DO NOT make the external modem USB.  That would be a bad thing.  Get a normal serial connection external modem.

The USB bus uses a lot of CPU power, and has limited bandwidth.  Basically, the only things you want on USB are control devices.  I have my mouse and joystick on it, and that's all.

If you are not using the Ethernet card, I would remove it from the computer completely to avoid problems.

It looks like you can disable Com1 in your BIOS setup if you like, unless you use it for something else like synching a palm pilot.  If you do not have a parallel printer, you can disable that one as well.

Ok one more bit of info, I have deleted Earthlink and loaded AOL as a ISP instead, the flicker was not effected. I think this is a Windows ME issue. Reporting it as a bug.

Yes, if you disable some of the things that require IRQ's, your system may be able to re-assign some of them and avoid sharing or conflicts.

Until you get your video card on it's own IRQ with no sharing or conflicts, I don't expect AH to work right.

Hmm, maybe the system restore thing in Windows ME (junk btw IMO) is slowing the system down.  You might try disabling it, but be aware, it has a nasty habit of automatically turning itself on.

If that doesn't do it then I'll have to think of something else.  (You disabled the ethernet card in the device manager correct? )

As far as the modem goes, gotta second Leph's advice.  In fact I'll specify a model for ya:  USR Courier external serial port modem (not USB).   It's expensive, but it is the standard when it comes to reliability.  That modem will connect at the highest speed your phone lines are capable of to any ISP no matter how ghetto.

There was some setting for the GeFarce cards that Skuzzy was recommending to solve that flicker issue.

I don't have a GeFarce and I forget the exact wording.  Something to do with Mip mapping?  Skuzzy?  Bloom?

In the D3D Advanced options for the GeForce cards (detonator drivers), set the Mipmapping level to "High quality".  It defaults to "Best image" which will cause a rather poor representation of the graphics, and will cause vertical tearing of the image.

The Mipmapping setting is located in your video drivers setup panel.
At the desktop, press the right mouse button and select Properties, then Settings from the Display panel.

Look under D3D, and Advanced, and/or more settings for this option.
