This past weekend I got a TrackIR4Pro/TrackClipPro combo.

I have gotten it to work for the most part, but when i try to look up it freezes/stutters....sometimes straight up, sometimes just up about 45 degrees.

The sensor and the clip are both at about the same level and centered with each other and I have tried moving around the sensor, adjusting the TrackClip, etc.... and I just can't seem to get it sorted out. I have tried it with the sensor closer as well as farther than 36" from the TrackClip and there seems to be hardly any difference either.

What am I missing?

The instructions for the TrackIR4 were ok.....the TrackClip directions were sparse though.

i have the same set up and have had that issue now and then, here's what i try...

1) make sure that you have the "heads" and the tracking screens shut off, this seems to use up resources that help keep it smooth.

2) make sure that you have as many programs shutdown as possible. Good idea when playing AHII anyway, but can make a HUGE difference with the trackIR enabled.

3) make sure that the 3 LED's are as vertical as possible.

4) Try unplugging the trackIR for a few seconds then plug it back in, believe it or not this works more often then not.

Have the "tracking on" the screen , it shows the three green things .

When you "look up" does all three of those "things" stay on the tracking screen ?

If not than that could be your problem . I use the hat clip myself ( not in this game , I like AH hat control better than trackir ) and had to bend the top of the clip ahead some to get it so that all "three green things" were on the tracking screen when I tiped my head up .

PS: BTW StuB my dad had that nick name for all life , he used it proudly too as he was a Jr in RL and hated not haveing his own name .

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

I tried them all and now it seems a little smoother and I can look straight up, 90 degrees.

It stutters a little bit when I do it and I can't look past 90 degrees, but it is definitely better.

Now I just have to get used to using it.

Not a problem. I think that you'l love you're trackIR. Took me about a week to get used to it and now that i have it i cant imagine flying without it.

I would suggest spending some good time setting up your profile with it. I found that by increasing the deadband in the center i was able to eiminate the issue where i would return to center and the sight wouldnt be anywhere near centered. If you like i'd be happy to send you my profile to try out.

I also turned off the rotational axis, i forgot to mention it before but doing that REALLY helped my performance.
