good gun there:) my freind has a little walther ppk 380...it shot ok..but i felt it wasnt very accurate...atleast for me it wasnt..im sure you can get use to it..but i had a hard time hitting a can from 30 feet away...didnt have a issue with the sub xd at the same range...but mite be cause i didnt have time to get use to it ..lol and i like the looks of the pkk....but i think i like my full size walther p38 much better:)...xd was easier to site in { for me atleast }over the ppk

I e-mailed Springfield Armory with that very question when I got my new XD. Here's the answer they sent:

"Due to the fact that our entire line of XD pistols features fully supported and ramped barrels, using +P and +P+ ammunition will not damage your gun. However, we do recommend that you make sure the ammunition is American made and is in new condition. Due to the increased power of +P and +P+ ammunition, the cycling of your XD may be affected by this different ammunition. If you are planning to use +P or +P+, we recommend that you fire it extensively at the range before relying on it for concealed carry or self defense. It is important to ensure that it will run reliably in your XD. Although +P or +P+ ammunition will not damage your XD, a steady diet of this higher power ammo may decrease the service life of the barrel and/or firearm."

Maybe there exists a heavier set of springs that will allow for better cycling/longer wear with +p loads, I don't know. I haven't shot any +p myself but I've tried several types of ammo in standard pressure and it has been so far perfectly reliable with everything I've put in it. If you do try out some hot loads in this gun will you let me know how it shoots?

any of you guys use those "clipit" thingies? I have em on a couple of guns.. they are clips on the guns like on folding knives that allow you to clip the gun to your belt... no holster.

Not the most secure method in the world but not bad either.. seen holsters that launched guns worse. When you just need to grab a gun for some reason and not show it tho.. they are pretty neat. Have on on my Kimber 45 and one on a makarov.

That was a great response you got there. I would have expected the usual take it easy standard loads only kind of reply.

As far as mitigating recoil slide action you can look into recoil buffers. I know they make the slip on kind that stops bare metal to metal contact when the sldie reaches travel limits. I don't know if they still make them but my old Mk4 has a buffer with a spring inside a spring housing and a pin that makes contact to help slow the slide down at the very end. This fits inside the standard recoil spring. I have found it to be very good at slowing the slide before it gets to the end of travel.

One of my cop friends had this little gun down at the ranch.

Really nice little carry pistol. His was a 9mm and i would love to pick one up if I could find one for a good price. My glock 19 works great for my back pack on bow hunting trips.

my bud who owns all the glocks has one on his 40 cal glock... told me he loves it.

nice looking 1911:) my cousin got the rock river 1911..it shoots pretty good and i like the cheap gi springfield special with the gi grips for 450 too 480ish new:) what a deal i think.

right on the back. right under the slide i believe...2 bolt holes on the back of the gun it attaches to. i didnt really look too hard at it.. but looked fairly easy to install and they fit tight

and you can get a glock clip at just about any gun store:)

The one on the Kimber goes between the frame and the grips and adds like a 32nd of an inch to the thickness of the gun.

Anyone shoot the new taurus 1911 yet? seems a good deal for $600 has more features than the sti and doesn't use crap mags like the sti or springfield 1911.

Same place you just need a duct tape.

Don't laugh... I used the "double sided tape" they gave me for the makarov instalation.. they swear it will never come loose on it's own and have some very impressive guarentees to go along with it.
